About this design:
In early July Pam (the Funky Tulip) posted an intriguing earring design ('Twist Me Around') featuring some of her lampwork beads hanging from copper wire corkscrews. About the same time, Katherine (KH) posted 'Summer Flower' earrings, with trios of glass flower bells. I loved both designs, and composed a hybrid of the 2 designs. (The tiny wire snarls inside the flower bells are another tip of the hat to KH's work.) Thank you for the inspiration!

K H says:Mary, have you tried making your own copper earwires? The are so easy to make and by either squaring the top or making longer tails you don’t have to worry about them falling out of your ears. When I was at Oshkosh last week we had a heck of a storm blow through, and if I had been wearing standard store-bought earwires I am sure that they would have blown right out of my earlobes. Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:I love these!
I’ve started to make most of my earwires. I love that I can vary the size of the curve to complement the earring design. And the extra long tails ensure they stay in my ears.

Eeka Mouse says:Thank you for all the kind comments – but most of the credit is due to Pam & Katherine!
KH: yes, sometimes I make my own earwires – see ‘Reposing Reptile’ & ‘AZ Hummingbird’ for some examples – doing so is fun & creative, but most of the time I am lazy and use pre-made ones. I am lucky to be one of the people who doesn’t lose earrings easily – must have robust earlobes???

K H says:Blushing
Since I started wearing my handmade pure copper earwires I have had fewer problems with sore earlobes – even if I wear them several days straight and don’t remove them at night. Some of the commercial earwires must contain mystry metal.

Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:Isn’t it great when you can combine several designs into your own unique style? These earrings are absolutely adorable! No wonder you get lots of comments about them!
Your title made me giggle, too!

Eeka Mouse says:Thanks!!!
KH – a friend has found that she is not sensitive to the metal in earwires after all – she is sensitive to commercial metal cleaners/coatings! She now cleans her metals with a pinch of dry baking soda on a soft cloth… no more problems!
CCS: What can I say – I see past, I think earrings!
