Wow!!! Another great piece! I like the way you found to use the cab, and it works so smoothly here with the rest of your design. :-)
Funny how some stones sort of “talk” to us. LOL

Hi John, of all your recent designs, this is my personal favorite. The Jasper focal is “just” like the Serengheti plain, acacia trees too boot. I am trying to work out how you mounted the focal? Something you made? or a finding? and Russian (?) Turquoise, very rare…..
    Well designed. Thank you!

John, your work is beautiful! I like that you choose a theme for your pieces, and am really inspired by your use of wire! I am always finding pictures in Landscape Jasper too. I like how you use them to set the tone for a design.

Thanks everybody for your kind comments. Briefly, here’s how the cab is held. Draw an X. Draw a vertical line thru the X. This represents 3 wires, one straight, two bent into Vs. These are soldered together in the center. The ends of the X wires are melted into a ball with a torch. Optionally, the loop, or bail wire can also be melted, or left alone. The trick is in figuring out the length of the wires! Either trace around the cab with a pencil on paper, draw the lines for the wires, extending out from the cab outline, and go from there, or use inexpensive wire to make a mock up. Russian Turquoise, possibly a made up name, I don’t know. I have a number of themes listed in a notebook, already thought up. Then the search is on to find the right focal and accompanying stones. Occasionally, I see a stone that rings a bell in my beady brain that says, “Hello! Here I am. My name is……….” And, a new theme is born. Some stones just naturally fit certain themes. Just use your imagination and themes will come to you.

There is plenty of beautiful blue green turquoise in Russia especialy in the Ural area but I never seen white one though…

John — Perfect name for your fabulous pendant and the lovely necklace you built around it! Thanks for the directions for your cab setting. :D

I am assuming you wrapped the wire in your necklace around long straight pieces of wire? I’ve done that in designs before.
