About this design:
This is still sort of a work in progress. It isn't exactly as I first planned but I like it better. I still have to find or make a clasp that will do it justice. Any suggestions?
Please excuse the shabby display piece. All of my good ones are currently occupied.

Mary S - Sweet Chick says:This is great Nancy! I especially love the way you’ve arranged the chrysocolla jasper with the metal beads. And of course your textured metal drops are always fantastic!!
As far as a clasp, I know you’ll come up with something just perfect for this! Be sure and show us what you make!

Little Round Chick says:Thanks everyone.
I made a tentative decision on a clasp but it might be a bit large. I’ll just watch it and see what it does.
Here are some additional photos.

Eeka Mouse says:Can’t you just pound out a matching hook & eye from similar-toned wire? I bet that would look great!

No, Sue, I didn’t borrow Nicole tools. Got my own hammer and torch so I can pound and burn anything! However, I really neeeeed some more hammers so I can pound different patterns.

K H says:Love the necklace!!!! I also would have done a hook & eye, but a lot of folks like toggles.

LauraW says:I love it! Where did you find the hammered pieces and how did you make them? I have sheet metal and wondered if I cut three pieces and used one of my hammers, would I get a similar result? And the toggle looks wonderful-you could make another version with the other suggestions above and see how it works, but with different stones so it’s not an exact duplicate. You’re very talented!

Little Round Chick says:Thanks for the compliments everyone.
L white, I cut the pieces with metal snips. First I made patterns with some light cardboard then traced around them with a fine sharpie. After I got them cut out I punched the holes, filed the edges then smoothed the edges with 4/0 steel wool. All of the texturing was done with a chasing hammer. When I finished with the texturing I used my torch to give them a little extra color.
If you have never worked with snips they can be sort of difficult to manipulate. I have made many scraps even though they weren’t what I was planning to do. The brass I used is 24 gauge and it can be a bit stiff when it comes to cutting with snips. I haven’t tried 26 gauge but I’m sure it would be a lot easier to cut.
Go to it, have fun and let me know how things turn out.
