About this design:
Here is the earring tree that was inspired by Little Round Chick. I used 19G black steel wire (from Ace Hardware) - cutting 7 pieces about 2.5 inches each I twisted the 7 strands together to create a "trunk" with some "roots" at one eand and "limbs" and "branches" at the other. I decided to make loops along each branch to keep the earrings from sliding, and then I used the hammer and bench block to harded those loops. I found aplastic ivy bowl at Dollar Tree - black with a bronze undertone. The supplier is Syndicate Sales, so you may be able to find them at florist supply markets. The bowl holds over 3 cups of water, so I poured in some water and started stiring in plaster of Paris. When the plaster was thick enough to hold the tree I plunged it into the pot and set the whole thing aside to dry and cure. Today I "back filled" the pot with reindeer moss (from Dollar Tree) and added earrings.
Thanks to LRC for such a great idea!!! :)

Little Round Chick says:Bless you, my child. You’ve done an EXCELLENT job. Love the loops on the limbs, a terrific solution to the sliding problem. Next time I make a tree I may just have to use your up-date.

Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Katherine, this is fantastic! I love the loops n the branches, too!
BTW, Syndicate Sales is based here in Kokomo, IN, so I should be able to find that plastic bowl in one of our local Dollar Tree stores!

Bettys Beads says:I like the earring trees…but I am lazy. I found a tiny white one in the storage room that was used for tiny easter eggs. I bent the bottom to fit a small black pot and put tiny black stones in the pot. Recycle. Thanks Little Round Chick…you have inspired us.

Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:K H, I knew LRC would inspire you! Love your tree, and what a great idea to make loops so the earrings stay in one place! A unique piece for under – what? – 5 bucks? You bargain shopper, you!
