About this design:
A friend had expressed admiration of my wire-wrapped rose quartz pendant, and since she's so athletic, loved that it was done with stainless steel wire to avoid tarnishing. So for her birthday I rifled through my stash and found this olive green serpentine cabochon I thought suited her personality; feminine, but not too girly. This is my 3rd wire-wrapped piece. I was a little peeved with myself, realizing I hadn't gotten a good shot of the side, it was actually really cool, with 3 different wires rising like waves over the sides. You can almost see it where the wires rise to wrap over the top.

gembeans says:I see the three waves and the curls on top is like foam that forms at the very tops of the waves. I really like the sides on this one! You are very talented (I’ve seen other pieces you’ve designed)! Lovely, lovely, lovely…

K H says:Another winner. You are brave to work with stainless steel wire…it’s a lot harder to work with than silver or copper.

Little Round Chick says:Great looking pendant. Love it!
Is that square stainless wire? What gauge is it and where did you get it?
On Jan 18, 2012 at 1:38 pm #
MoonBell says:It is square wire that I got off Amazon, it’s made by Beadalon. I am pretty sure it’s 20 gauge for the stouter wire, and 24 gauge half round for the smaller wire (maybe 26…)

Mary S - Sweet Chick says:……by the way, how do you keep from getting kink marks on your wire? Everything looks so smooth. This seems like the kind of design you’d have to know EXACTLY where you want the wires to be before you even begin.
You really are good at this!

MoonBell says:@ Mary S, I guess I did have a pretty good idea of what I wanted it to look like, the waves sort of came together on the fly.

qltldy10 says:I would love to learn how to wire wrap, this is so inspiring!! I’ve tried, and end up with marks on the wire. Maybe I don’t have the right tools, lol. Maybe I’ll go into the Tips and Techniques and see if there is anything there to teach me-
