Real Steel

About this design:

Don't look for Hugh Jackman here...just twisted tornado links made from annealed steel wire. From the 50 feet of 19 gauge hardware store spool. My hands had a good workout between the steel wool scrubbing and wire manipulation. Added the fresh water pearls and oxidized sterling silver findings

Great way to use the steel! Love the combo of elegant pearls with the unexpected steel wire. Looks like you had a lot of fun even if you did wear your finger prints off. :D
Which Ace Hardware did you find this wire in?

Hi, Nancy. The 19 gauge was purchased at Home Depot or Lowes. But Ace Hardware Outlet (on line) sells 24 and 28. Here’s the link:
You pay shipping, but the wire is so very cheap, it’s still worth it.
I did call the local Ace, but they only carry the galvanized steel.

Really like these and the other ones you had on your e-mail posting (forgot what they looked like right now but remember I liked them the best. Hate that short-term memory loss, must so along with the bad typing problem i’M HAVING TODAY–SEE!)

I had a roll of this wire tucked away, and you inspired me to dig it out and play with it. So far I have made several fleur-de-lis headpins.

I love the organic feel of these earrings, and I frequently find unexpected jewelry “ingredients” at hardware stores – copper wire, steel wire, o rings, metal ‘links’ in a huge range of sizes, etc. And they’re less expensive, too!
