Copper and Brass Springs

About this design:

Playing with copper, brass, aluminum, carbon steel coated with Cu wire to make springs. Also, thanks to the creative designers here, I got some copper washers and hammered them (rustically, with a rock hammer on the sidewalk--the geologist method, I suppose, lol)then I tried the 'spa method' from Little Round Chick and let them sit with some lotion for a little bit. The lotion turned green, so I guess there was some type of oxidation or other chemical reaction! lol :) ;) In the end I thought they turned out pretty well.

There are 2 necklaces and 1 bracelet pictured here. I included more than one photo to try and show different details.

Thanks for the inspiration everyone!

Components:

copper wire, brass wire, aluminum wire, carbon steel coated with copper, copper washers bracelet-fluorite and jasper beads on handmade charms spring and chain necklace- impression jasper (LB), Brecciated Jasper (LB), Autumn Agate (LB) on the handmade copper wire beaded connectors

I like the “sidewalk texturing”. Looks great! We just got a Harbor Friegh a few weeks ago. Gotta check it out. What kind of lotion did you use?

I used the first hand lotion I grabbed, Vaseline Advanced Healing, it came out really watery for some reason, but it seemed to add character to the washers. The texture is probably part sidewalk and park rock hammer textured, since the head of my rock hammer is pretty beat up from hitting rock with it for many years….lol.

Love your ‘can do’ attitude to figure this out. The mixture of metals and washers in the necklace is a very cool look!

Thanks Fresh Baked! I do like to mix metals, textures, etc. I think it brings a unique character to the piece.

I must admit, I did/do enjoy whacking/hitting rocks and now the washers with the hammer. Such a great way to release frustrations! ;) lol Though I must admit since I’m more accustom to hitting rocks, which require more force then the washers, perhaps the washer get a little more distressed than originally intended…oops. :) lol

All these designs are so cool. I especialy lik the necklace with the combo of different metals. They go well with the stones you’ve used. Needless to say,I could just die over the Flourite. It’s one of my fav stones.

    Thanks, Nancy!

I love fluorite too. I like all stones/minerals, but I must admit I’m partial to fluorite and labradorite.
