Rings of Saturn

About this design:

It all began with a handcrafted Boro Glass Bead. The bead is from a glass bead artist and goes beautifully with Red Jasper and Yellow Jade. Using the glass "Ring" trapped between 2 large beads of Red Jasper for the center section , I added a few large Yellow Jade beads, then fabricated the necklace sides using a spiral bead work stitch.
Starting out with butterscotch and gold lined seed beads, tiny 2 mm beads of Red Jasper I used chip beads of Yellow Citrine to transition from the larger center section. After a few inches I dropped the Citrine beads and just used the seed beads so the sides of the necklace would taper and feel comfortable around the neck.

For the clasp I used another bead of Red Jasper and embellished it with seed beads to look like a sun symbol and made a loop of seed beads to complete the clasp.
The completed piece has a decidedly astral look to it.

Components:

1 Large hole Boro glass art bead "ring" 3/4" to 7/8" 12 mm Red Jasper beads 10 mm Yellow Jade beads 8 mm Red Jasper beads 6 mm Red Jasper beads AND 192 tiny 2 mm Red Jasper beads Citrine chip beads seed beads 11/0 in Lt. AnnaMaria,
This is such a beautiful necklace. I am a huge admirer of the symetry and balance you made as well. I just learned to do a spiral stitch but have no idea how to do the working spiral stitch you created here. The chip beads along with the 2mm beads is a wonderful transition, however. I cannot find out how to do this online… Can you or anyone advise me as to where to look?
    Thank you
    J Woll

Large beads transition into finer beadwork – a neat concept. The clasp is very original and I cant wait to steal that idea one of these days :) . As Miannada said, unexpected, but cool.
