About this design:
I found these great yellow nuggets (15 - 25mm)at an estate sale. I repurposed the original necklace. I'm not sure what they are and want to be sure to label and price the pieces appropriately. I'm thinking yellow jade or yellow opal. I'm guess the faceted 4mm are a jasper. Any thoughts??

puppychick labratbecky says:I’d guess yellow opal. and the red could also be a dyed dolomite “jade”. I LOVE what you have done with the stones you scavenged!

Mary S - Sweet Chick says:I think they’re both gorgeous, Jeanne!
Two fantastic designs, each with their own wonderful flair!
As to what the stones are…..the guesses you made are the best I could come up with. I also have a stone similar to the yellow ones called camel jasper….another possibility.
The 4mm stones…. yep, probably a jasper. Maybe a gemologist could help you.
So just tell the lucky customer what the possibilities are and they’ll know they have a beautiful, secret treasure!

Bettys Beads says:I love how you repurposed the old necklace. And look how many you have leftover for more beautiful jewelry. Look at LB yellow jade (nat) barrel and the look is the same.

Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Thanks Becky! The red is definitey coral that I purchased at an NYC wholesaler.

That’s what I thought, Betty. I do still have a few more left to use as focals.

puppychick labratbecky says:I see how they do match the natural yellow jade better than the opals. whatever they are, they are gorgeous and you have done a great job highlighting them!!

Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Thanks so much everyone. It looks like I’m going with yellow jade if anyone asks.

Elis Mom says:I agree with Becky. Ex pert, this is a friendly community forum. Again, if you have nothing nice to say, perhaps you should just be quiet.

Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Thank you Becky and Elis mom! I have to say I am a bit confused by Ex pert’s comment.
The necklaces were well-received at yesterday’s show, but it seems that folks aren’t ready for fall colors yet. Amazonite, pink opal and turquoise were the popular colors.
