Bohemian (wire) Rhapsody

About this design:

Practicing the wire wrapping still;) My friend bought me a bag full of beads and things. This is what I came up with! I hope you all can help me out with what's in this lovely necklace. I have added Turquoise, Tiger's Eye, Shell, and some metal beads. I really like how it all came out, though i got really frustrated alot!!

Components:

Unknown Stones, Turquoise, Shell, Metal 4mm, Wire, Seed Beads.

I am going to take a wild guess and say that the round burnt reddish orange balls are red jasper? and The middle stone a different type of jasper? I know alot of you will be able to tell me if I’m wrong (or right;))

Very nice….looking at the closeup photo those reddish beads are red jasper. The focal stone is a type of orbicular jasper..kind of looks like a rough leopardskin jasper. Great design.

Your wire wrapping skills very good! With practice it will get less frustrating. (Although there are days when it can still drive you crazy. Sometimes the fingers just won’t do what you want them too!)

I love the fact that you use smaller stones in your jewelry designs. You’ve inspired me to look beyond the tendency to use large stones in wire wrapping. Thank you! :-)

Great job on this necklace, Jess! It took me a LONG time to get comfortable with my wraps, and I STILL get woogly ones now and then!

Beautiful necklace! I love the combination of colors. My first instinct was to say the large center stone is leopardskin jasper. Are the small brownish beads ones that you questioning? They look like tiger eye. Your wire wrapping looks great.

Okay so I got two leopard Jaspers and I thought it also looked a bit like Agate? Thank you all for the compliments! Glad to hear I’m not alone in the wire mess ups;) I actually find the wire the most fun!

Love this necklace. It’s dainty, but has lots of color.Your wraps are very good. Don’t worry about perfection. It takes time to get comfy with certain gauges of wire, and different wrap techniques. I can see you’ve already mastered simple loops, and that’s great. Believe it or not,the simple loop is one that lots of peeps have most trouble with. You need just the right angle, and eyeball the right amount of wire for the loop.If you’re not happy with your work, just get some cheapo copper wire, and practice when the mood hits you.

Wraps are tough. just face it and relax. :) we all have bad days! you did a great job! I have found that using a bent nose pliers to hold the loop and then wrapping at right angles to that and basically against that keeps my wraps lined up. Looks like you have a good method to use!

This is a gorgeous design! I think your wire wraps are wonderful! I’m with Nancy Mc – I have the most difficult time with simple loops. 8O Mighty fine work here! :D

This is a beautiful piece! I empathize with your wiring! I ‘m a beading novice and once I used a whole spool of wire on one necklace! Practice, practice!

NY Bella that’s my plan!! Practice and more practice;) Martha Thank you. Becky I will be working on that right angle!! I have been using the bent nose pliers, without them I’d throw in the towel!! I reckon I’ll break down and buy an expensive how to magazine at the craft store this week;) I think the wire wrapping will be my forte’ as I find it calming (mostly). Of course I love making the leather wraps as well.Variety is good:) Have a great day ladies!! We have 2 day left of summer before school starts and my kids are driving me bonkers, so it’s an outside kind of day…off we go:)

Sorry, I can’t help with the stones. Do love what you’ve done with your gift bag, however! The color palette makes this necklace a versatile piece of jewelry.
