From the earth necklace

About this design:

I created this necklace to showcase the modest but beautiful stone circle in the centre with its dark and mossy greens, taupe and a little rust.

The circle suggested the other beads, all of which I already had in my stash, but most of which I hadn't used previously. It all comes together on hemp cord, with some gunmetal wraps, antique brass jump rings and toggle and with some brass chain.

This is the first knotted cord necklace I've made (I've done lots of crochet ones previously), and I'm really happy with the assymetrical design and earthy timeless feel.

Components:

Hemp cord (10lb), stone circle, taupe ceramic beads with flowers and Mandarin script (I have no idea what it says), olive green beads, small wooden or bamboo beads, seed beads, gunmetal 22 gauge artistic wire, brass chain, antique brass jump rings, antique brass toggle clasp.

I love what that circle told you about what to combine it with! :) This is fabulous!

Gorgeous necklace! I love the assymetrical layout of the beads with the perfect circle of the pendant. It creates a nice contrast. All of the colors and textures work beautifully together, creating a very harmonious design.

Love this necklace. Did you use the hemp throughout the necklace or only around the pendant? Beautiful piece.

Wow! This is really awesome! I love the hemp, all the different type of beads you used, and the colors are really fab! I love the knot work you did with the hemp as well!

Hi, an answer for Retro By Design … thanks for your comment. I used the hemp through all the beads on both sides, running it through two jump rings doubling it back and at the ends and wire wrapping it to secure it.

I think the mix of stone and metal in your necklace is amazing. That pendant is very fine! Any idea what kind of stone it is called? I have a large cabbed pendant with a very similar pattern. I really like your earth combo; it’s beautiful!!

I wish I could tell you more about the pendant, but I think I bought it years ago when I loved beads but hadn’t started beading seriously. As a result I didn’t note down what the stone was. I’ve had a look around the gemstone beads on the Limabeads website, and wonder if it might be a jasper?
