About this design:
Last week I decided I needed to learn how to make an ear cuff. I started simply with just wire then added some curls. Over the course of 5 or 6 days I went from simple designs to more complex ones with beads.
One thing I learned from all of this is it's hard to fit an ear cuff to your own ear.
Components:
16ga copper wire, crab fire agate beadsRead the comments (or add your own)

Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Great idea, Nancy — these always look so cool on other people (not moi
)! Love those crab agates with the copper wire!

Little Round Chick says:Thanks Lynn. I used Czech FP beads for my first beaded one. Wore it for several hours at the farmers market last Friday and it was quite comfortable. Now all I need is a “duty ear” so I can make sure the shape of this one and any others that I make will look right.
The picture below is the one I wore to the farmers market.

Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Oooooh, I love this color combo, too! Since my ear lobes are double-pierced, I always wear two pairs of earrings each day (1 posts, 1 danglies). I’ve never worn an ear cuff, but think the look is great and seems to be very popular.
I seem to remember that you don’t wear earrings, Nancy. Is that still correct?

Little Round Chick says:You are right, Lynn. I don’t have pierced ears and clip-on and screw back ear rings are too uncomfortable. So that leaves ear cuffs or nothing.

JC Hamm says:I love this look. Very popular now. Love the fire agate.

Mary S - Sweet Chick says:Very cool, Nancy!
I saw some at an Art fair last weekend. But they all seemed pretty large to me.
Like you, I don’t wear earrings. You’ll have to let me know how well you like wearing them.

Asia says:This is cool, love the beads too

Little Round Chick says:Mary, I wore the turquoise glass one (shown above) for almost a whole day on Friday and completely forgot I had it on until I hugged my son.
Ear cuffs can be made quite small and if you want a little bling 6/0 seed beads will work great on 18ga wire. The instructions I found were for 20ga but it seemed to be a bit flimsy to me. I just measured one of my smaller ear cuffs is a shade over 1 inch wide and looks quite dainty.
Give it a try. Copper and brass wire aren’t too expensive so if you goof you haven’t lost much. I’m still trying to master the technique with variable results.

A Southers says:I love these…they will make awesome gifts for my granddaughters, ages 3 to 12…actually all the females of all ages in my family! I know that even my 73 yr old mother would wear this. Thanks!
