Ear Cuff with Tutorial

About this design:

Another ear cuff with a skull. Black wire makes it a good Halloween cuff.

I've also included instructions for anyone who wants to give it a try.

Components:

black craft wire, pewter skull and cross bones

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1:
The photograph above isn't exactly like the cuff in the tutorial. However it shows a variation of the cuff.

Tools : ruler, 16ga or 18ga wire (copper is the easiest to work with), sharpie pen, round nose pliers, nippers.
Step 2:
Cut 8" to 10" of wire. Ten inches will keep you from running out of wire.

Fold wire in half making a loop that is about 3/8" across. Pinch wires together about one inch from the loop.
Step 3:
Wrap the wire around the sharpie starting at the loop end. Then wrap the ends around the sharpie and separate so the loop is between them
Step 4:
Bend wire ends down to form a U shape on either side of the loop. It will look like rabbit ears.
Step 5:
Bend wire ends outward to more or less form right angles.
Step 6:
Make a small U shape in each wire bending back toward the the top. Formed the wire ends into single loops that are about the same height as the rabbit ears. When you are ready to make shapes a bit more complicated make vines, vines with multiple loops, vines with beads.
Step 7:
Last step, fold the ends of the rabbit ears down to make small hooks. This will make it easier to get the cuff positioned properly. The photo isn't as good as I would like but hopefully you can see the bent tips of the rabbit ears.

We are having a party for her and she has asked us to wear costumes. Now I know what to make her for a gift and what I can wear as part of my costume! :)

    Have fun with it and post pictures of your results. While you are working on the cuff if it gets a little out of shape put it back on the sharpie and reshape.
