Game Day!

About this design:

So, I wasn't raised a Gamecock, but I married into lifetime tickets and parking via the hubby! Needed something garnet and black to wear to the tailgate fiesta, but didn't want the obnoxious stuff I see others wear. Just a simple 18 gauge wire paddle shape, with garnets and onyx dangling inside. Just like football, sometimes you keep it simple, and go with the fundamentals.

Components:

Copper-garnet-onyx

Love it, I’m a novice to beading and have been trying a very similar design with a 16 gauge wire, but it just doesn’t look right, what gauge did you use for the frame ? :D

  2. rootware
    rootware says:

I used 18 gauge that I hammered slightly with a rawhide hammer, the garnet needed 24 gauge, and I used 22 gauge on the onyx. The holes in the onxy were larger and to keep them from slipping off the 24 gauge didn’t work too well!

What a great idea! This design has endless possibilities. I can see it a little larger in size made from wire that is a bit heavier and Tah Dah a pendant! Do you mind if I play around with your idea? :D

If I minded I would not share here! I myself love what seeing others stuff does to my own creativity. I think a pendant is a fab idea. Post when you are done!

These are beautiful. I love your creations, and admire your organic work! When people write that they hammer their own wire,It always “wows” me!

I agree with Nancy Mc about being wowed by your use of a mallet. Some day I’ll have to learn how to do that!
