This is one of those projects I wanted to do for a long time. I had all the components picked out and just sitting in a jar on my desk … are you like that? I decided to make it one evening, thinking it would take me a few hours. Boy was I surprised! I completed this necklace in just around an hour. I love this combination of sparkle, and it reminds me of sunsets over the desert.

Supplies you’ll need:

  • A complimentary combination of faceted crystal rondelles in 3mm, 4mm, and 6mm (go light on the 6mm)
  • Chain
  • 4-1 link
  • Two 6" lengths of leather lace

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1

Cut 8 16" lengths of beading wire. Attach 2 lengths each of the loops, individually crimping each one. I put my crystals in a pile together because I wanted a random order and mix. String on then crystals. I recommend using smaller ones at the ends so the piece will lay flat. The lengths of each strand are as follows starting from the inside:
6.5"
7.5"
8.5"
9"
9.75"
10.25"
11"
11.75

Step 2

Attach your necklace to the chain. I chose a Patricia Healey chain to match my links. I removed the front 2 links and the focal connector portion of the chain by spiraling them off the rings. That way I can use them in a later project. Then taking my 2 6" lengths of leather lacing, I knotted the link to the ring on the chain on both sides. Make sure to dab adhesive into the knot to securely hold it in place. Done!
