Ancient Urchin


About this design:

I found the fossil at a rock shop. It was labeled "sea urchin, Cretaceous, 65 mill. years, Madagascar". How marvelous to hold such a thing in my hand!

Components:

Sea urchin fossil, aragonite beads, Humble Beads polymer clay beads, seed beads, Montana jasper, copper rounds and antique copper clasp

    The urchin came with a glossy surface, so I can’t claim credit for that. Every form of needle work, from sewing to embroidery to beadweaving, feels natural to me. I love to stitch!

    Becky, I just used herringbone and peyote stitches. Pick up a book on beadweaving, and you’ll find them there. My favorite is “Seed Bead Stitching” by Beth Stone.
