About this design:
Silver.Sparkle of the beads.Necklace and earrings
Components:
Czech Bohemian glass seed beads with the silver linning : clear, 2 very light shades of pink. Silver plated findings and chain.Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Sorry no photos of the process... Next time :) You need: Cotton cord 3/4 mm thick, 8 equal parts at 18", light tan color.Genuine Bohemian Czech glass seed beads by Jablonex. 240 beads (1 oz) Czech seed beads 6/0 Clear Crystal Silver Foil lined. 80 Czech seed beads 6/0 Light Rose pink Silver Lined. 160 Czech seed beads 6/0 Champagne Silver Foil Lined.Kumihimo Disk, 8 bobbins. End Caps silver plated or pewter 12mm by 10mm (2). 1/2 foot silver plated chain. 4 silver plated jump rings, 2 silver colored head pins 3"., Super Glue. Silver plated hook or other closure of your choice. |
Step 2: Tie the ends of the 8 strings on one side. 1/2 inch away from the end. String the beads on each piece of cord one by one: 15 Clear beads, then 5 Rose Pink, then 20 Champagne beads, then 5 Rose Pink, then 15 Clear ones. Move them up toward the knot. wrap another , loose end on the bobbin up to the beads. proceed until all 8 strings are done. |
Step 3: Now move beads a 3 inches away from the knot and insert the knot into the hole of the disk and attach the weight,at the bottom, as usual, place the cords into the proper slits. Start weaving the string without the beads. until you have an inch of the weaved rope. Now go for the beads as usual, until you are done with all the beads. Then continue to weave the empty strings making the rope on this end of the piece. One inch of the rope and about an inch of the ends: cut. Now you have ready to finish weaved piece! |
Step 4: Tie each end of the rope , very close to the beads with strong thin thread , give it a few wraps and tie double again.Insert a head pin close to the beads and bend the part with the head , about 4mm into the rope so the long end of the head pin is straight up. Cut the rope 5mm above the tied thread and immediately drop a few dropes of the Super glue on the rope's end and sides. Insert head pin into the end cap, making sure it its all fits well. Thread one of the seed beads on the head pin until it sits on the end cap( cone) and make an eye in the pin (loop) for the jump ring or chain link to go on... Ta-ta... |

Kumisue says:Beautiful shading!! Have you tried looping thread over ring or loop and pulling up through cone at the start? At finished end, wrap thread over another ring or loop and back into the cone and tighten up. Tie a few knots close to cone and pull thread ends into the center of the beads. I use a long “doll needle” which I push eye-end back through center of beads up to the cone. Neat ending and no glue required.
