Julie Shane says:Becky!!! I *love* it! The plant’s name is “Audrey 2″ because Seymour named it after the ditzy clerk.
You have all the vines and even the drops of blood. This is SO clever and inventive. I would SO wear this!
On Dec 15, 2012 at 11:50 pm #
Julie Shane says:Oh! I remember… “Feed me Seymour!”
On Dec 16, 2012 at 12:20 am #
Deb Harding says:WOW JUST WOW! This is so cool. I am amazed at.how you made all.those beads look like plants. That took some major thinking and talent. You have missed your calling and should be in costume or set design.

Nancy Mc says:This is just a riot. So creative, and cute. some very good looking stones and pearls as well.
You’re very talented!

Medieval Momma says:Love it! Both the movie and the necklace. I didn’t enter the challenge but I had thought about it and one of my ideas was to do an Audrey. Too funny!
On Dec 16, 2012 at 8:47 am #
Crazy Chick Frida says:Ohhh Becky this is fabulous, it’s so exotic cool, and fun
I can’t remember seing that movie… But it looks like a meateating plant.
I love green. Well when its comes to jewelry it’s not many colors I don’t love…
On Dec 16, 2012 at 9:37 am #
Bunny says:Love it! I passed it by not realizing it was the big ball at first. Its wonderfully done and I agree, I’d wear it.
On Dec 16, 2012 at 11:19 am #
Laud says:Ha! This made me smile–but study the whole design because it’s so interesting. Wonderful colors and arrangement. Those eyes on Audrey are the coup de grace.
On Dec 16, 2012 at 11:20 am #
puppychick labratbecky says:Thanks, ladies! I wore it to a Christmas party last night because it is green with red.
Some people figured out it was Audrey after I gave them a small hint (Little Shop of Horrors). Others just stared at it and me like I was on something.
I love that reaction–keep ‘em guessing!!!
I had a blast making and remaking and REMAKING this stupid thing!

Julie Shane says:I teach in a Fine Arts Academy so my drama and music kids would “get it” instantly. I’ve never seen the movie (although I love Steve Martin and Rick Moranis) but I’ve seen the play twice. A high school production and a community theater production. It’s such a popular play to perform that you can “rent” the HUGE “Audrey 2″ prop and a person fits inside and it becomes a human puppet.
On Dec 16, 2012 at 11:40 am #
Beadlady3 aka Cindy says:How fun! I love your inspiration for this piece (even if it is a little gruesome)!
Sometimes it is tough to be clever in a dull world.
On Dec 16, 2012 at 11:48 am #
puppychick labratbecky says:Julie, that would be sooo fun to be inside that Audrey costume!!
On Dec 16, 2012 at 11:54 am #
Asia says:Becky, OMG, have not seen the movie, but it looks like one if the carnivorous pitcher plants, I bet you were a center of attention last night.Love the details and the asymmetry in your piece and of course the humor

puppychick labratbecky says:Asia, last year they had an ugly sweater contest at that party (my husband’s school’s faculty party). I couldn’t go but my daughter and I made a few sweaters with a hot glue gun and various bits and pieces glued to old sweaters. My husband wore one I had made with a 3-D 2-headed snowman on it. He won the contest when he walked in the door. This year they again held the contest and my hubby and I were told to sit this one out!
!!!
On Dec 16, 2012 at 12:21 pm #
Asia says:On Dec 16, 2012 at 12:51 pm #
Deb Harding says:Oh that hardly seems fair to make you sit out the contest just because you actually use your imagination. Why don’t rhey just up their game a little bit and not be.poor sports?
On Dec 16, 2012 at 1:05 pm #
NY Bella says:What a great inspiration for this fab piece! Kudos!!
On Dec 16, 2012 at 1:36 pm #
puppychick labratbecky says:Deb-don’t worry- we will kick their butts next year! The art teacher wasn’t there either time and he could give us some stiff competition but the other people just go to Goodwill. The most work anyone else did was to safety pin things onto a sweater. How lame.
The funniest one this year was the former college football player/now teacher who wore a tiny women’s sweater! I’m glad he had a chance to win! Next year is ours!

Little Round Chick says:Big Ball does it again! What a fun necklace. When I was reading your comments on the design and saw the reference to the “Little Shop of Horrors” the first thing that popped into my mind was “Feed Me Seymour.”

puppychick labratbecky says:On Dec 16, 2012 at 4:45 pm #
puppychick labratbecky says:Thanks again for all the kind, funny, and very encouraging comments! This whole challenge has been such a great time! I’m excited to see what else shows up in the gallery!
On Dec 16, 2012 at 7:22 pm #
Elis Mom says:Oh, Becky! This is to fabulous! First thing I thought of was Audrey smacking her lips when Seymour pricked his finger, then I thought, “Feed me, Seymour!” What a wonderful piece!
On Dec 16, 2012 at 10:00 pm #
KatsAllThat says:OMG, before I even read your thoughts on this I right away thought of the little shop of horrors…but in a very cute way!

franny says:Oh Becky!..you wacky woman…just knew you’d come up with something weird & wonderful & you didn’t disappoint!…love those glances at the party!..you have put some lovely “greens” in this piece but how will you ever bear to dismember “it”!

Kate says:great inspiration story– you never know when/where it’ll take you. Can’t get the theme song out of my head..and it’s only 930 in the morning…
On Dec 17, 2012 at 12:38 pm #
Deb Harding says:I hope you are not going to disassemble Audrey. Its just too spectacular. Maybe find a way to just kinda take Audrey’s head off for “normal” wear and then be able to add it back whenever a little bit of fun is needed.
On Dec 17, 2012 at 1:29 pm #
puppychick labratbecky says:Thanks, Kate! I’ll bet you guys think we are all crazy! Thanks to all of LB for setting up this forum for us! I see it as WIN-WIN! We chat and share and rave about your products and then you sell. You teach us how to use products and then we buy.
I think you LB people are marketing geniuses and I love this site!
Deb, I’m going to leave Audrey as is. I first made her with the head removable but then decided I will always have it on anyway. And I will wear it again!
Frida-I get your point–it’s all art.

Asia says:Becky, I definitely agree some one at LB is a marketing genius, I had known this for a while, the BGBM is very addictive, as if that was not enough there are PODs, no matter how much you try to avoid buying you always end up with never empty bag
On Dec 17, 2012 at 8:38 pm #
Laud says:Exactly! I always think I’ll empty my bag, then leave it alone for a while. Uh huh. Never happens.
On Dec 17, 2012 at 8:41 pm #
Julie Shane says:Hey Asia, I hit “buy” on Saturday and didn’t add anything until lasst yesterday. Almost 24 hours with an empty bag! Oh my!
On Dec 17, 2012 at 11:45 pm #
franny says:Becky…. you are the NEW normal!…girls just wanna have fun, right… yeah, we’ve gotta add beauty & class & style to our lives but, who are we kidding…..we’ve gotta laugh at ourselves too! love ya for getting a chuckle rolling…

CAS says:Becky … Becky … Becky!!! I so ADORE this! I’m going all out to declare “Audrey 2″ a never before given QUINTUPLE ooooooohhhhh … aaaaahhhhh!!!!
I feel sorry for those at your husband’s party who didn’t get it … no imagination, no sense of fun or whimsy for them. This is such a wickedly wonderful piece … KUDOS my friend.
PS. For movie buffs the original “Little Shop Of Horrors” was a black and white non-musical starring a very, very young Jack Nickelson as Seymour.

puppychick labratbecky says:On Dec 18, 2012 at 4:27 pm #
Julie Shane says:WOW! CAS I didn’t know that! I have to go find it! LOVE Seymour and Audrey (and Audrey2 of course) because they are SO QUIRKY!!! Gotta have “odd” in our “normal” world!!!
