About this design:

I needed a bit of serenity at the time I made this pick, and now you can see the result. (The image is foreshortened because of the camera angle. Really, the necklace is longer than it looks, and the focal isn't huge.)

Components:

Malachite/pyrite focal, antique red amber, shell pearls, pyrite, ruby zoisite, green fluorite, tree agate, howlite rounds, seed beads, antique brass bail

The multiple triangles remind me of roofs on temples. Wish I could say I had that in mind, but the shapes of the zoisite suggested the pattern all by themselves.

You’re right. The northern parts of Japan are cold and snowy. Maybe the fluorite is snow? Oh, the fluorite pieces move, so they’re not always the same.
