Aluminum Chic

About this design:

My customers love of my recent use of aluminum for jewelry inspired me to create these neclaces using the hammered aluminum chain and aluminum jump rings. Connectors are hand wrought and hammered.

Components:

Aluminum chain, 12 ga. aluminum wire, 18 ga. aluminum wire, 6mm aluminum jump rings.

Additional Images:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1:
Measure desired length of chain. Attach connectors to each end.
Step 2:
The spiral connectors on these pieces are fashioned from 12ga. aluminum wire into a simple sprial, turning the end of the sprial in the opposite direction to form a loop which fastens to one end of the chain. Hammer the piece for strength before attaching. Create an open two-ended loop with another piece of 12 ga. wire. Hammer to flatten to strengthen and close one loop around chain end, leaving the other end as a hook which hooks onto the oppisite spiral connector. (see photo.)
Step 3:
Polish connectors with microfiber cloth. Hook the ends together, and you're finished!

The beauty of these pieces is in their simplicity. The spirals are understated, but facinating.
