About this design:
All of the pieces for this were on a necklace I bought for parts. All the metal parts were silver. I used the Vintaj marine patina on all the metal components so they matched the beads.
Components:
Silver metal beads. Blue glass beads. Vintaj patina marine. Jump rings. Lobster claw clasp.Read the comments (or add your own)

Medieval Momma says:Love this, wish I could see the potential in old necklaces. The patina looks great and pulls the whole piece together.

CAS says:So cute Deb! I’m going to be getting my hands on some of my late Grandmother’s (paternal) jewelry this weekend … can’t wait … so many possibilities!
On Jan 08, 2013 at 10:42 am #
Deb Harding says:Thank you everyone. The main reason I posted this is to show the patina on silver metal (wouldn’t do it to sterling lol). I’ve not really seen examples of that and I just tried it to see and liked the results.
CAS I’m envious of all this old jewelry you’ll be getting.

Laud says:Perfect winter piece. I seem focused on white-blue at this time, and here you’ve done a marvelous job with those colors. I like the patina a lot. (I got the green-blue patina set back in October. Haven’t had the nerve to use it yet, but now I’ll just have to give it a try. Thanks for the inspiration!

Peggy3 says:The patina on the metal looks great. And the butterfly adds a touch of whimsy. Nice

OK Jacki says:this is beautiful, Deb
On Jan 08, 2013 at 11:34 am #
Deb Harding says:Thank you so much Laud.
I’m amazed at how the patina changes the look of the metal. It makes inexpensive metal beads look like vintage pieces. I spent hours looking at the Vintaj website before using it though.

Deb Harding says:Thank you Peggy and Jackie.

Deb Harding says:Laud…I don’t know if you saw it but I also have a necklace where I used this same patina on brass. It makes the brass look verdigris. I’m still working on.getting the other 2 colors in my kit to look good.

Peggy3 says:Hi Deb – you mentioned “I’m still working on.getting the other 2 colors in my kit to look good.”. Is there a way to remove the patina finish once it has dried?
On Jan 08, 2013 at 6:40 pm #
Deb Harding says:I just actually took a toothbrush and scrubbed the mess out of the arte metal piece that I couldn’t get to look right. I didn’t buy the glaze and that’s my problem. The colors don’t mix as well without it I don’t think. Of course I hadn’t left it on overnight. Don’t know if it.comes off after that long. I’m playing with some metal pieces I’m not gonna use.

On Jan 08, 2013 at 9:33 pm #
franny says:really like the effect the blue patina has on the silver ribbed beads, Deb!…like uncovered treasure..don’t have the space to ‘mess’ with this but it looks like fun…YOU’RE always experimenting & coming up with great results!

AllureofGemsGlamJulia says:Soooo very cute and girlish!:) Love it
On Jan 08, 2013 at 10:08 pm #
Deb Harding says:Thank you Lynn and Julia. Franny aa far as space goes..I’m sitting on my couch with my stacks of bead boxes in front of me using the lid of a margarine tub for the patina. You only put out a small drop of patina because it dries so fast.
On Jan 09, 2013 at 7:53 am #
Judith Ann Boyer says:Deb, this piece is awesome! Great job with the patina….even more amazing that I have a vision of you sitting on a couch with a margarine lid as your work station!!
you are very talented! jb
Have you used the Gilders paste? Not expensive and just as fun! Really easy to use. I just started fooling around with it and the patina stain and found it really looks cool on Acrylic beads and they are super easy to throw away if they look like blahhhh, because of the price.

NY Bella says:I love this, Deb! Fab piece!
On Jan 09, 2013 at 11:25 am #
Deb Harding says:Thanks Maria and Judith.
Judith…lol about your vision…I do have a clip board and a small bead board I got in a jewelry kit. No table at this time as my dining room is kind of dismantled to do something to the floor.
I haven’t tried the Gilder’s paste. I bought the patina to do my Mom’s necklace. It was my first time using it and I was really pleased with it. Mostly…go look at my Waterlilies for Mom necklace you’ll see what I mean in description. Your the 3rd person that has mentioned Gilder’s paste to me so I’m getting more and more interested.
Thanks also for the complment. I think you are also and it impresses me that you also see potential in not so great jewelry to be redone to pretty cool jewelry!
