Literary Inspiration: The Rope
About this design:
Every year I design an unique set for Bridgerland Literacy's annual fundraiser. I try to let the inspiration be from a literary source. This year it's Nevada Barr's "The Rope." It takes place in the slot canyons of Glen Canyon National Park. Please pardon the length of this description as I add the paragraph that motivated this piece.
“The water, black as squid ink, cold, and bottomless in her mind, was turquoise in the sunlight and unbelievably clear. Gold sandstone walls shimmered beneath the surface, water acting as a magnifying glass, until the drowned canyon seemed more real and inviting than that above the lake. Canyon walls, leaning, waiting to snap shut like the jaws of a hungry alligator on the edge of her dreams, soared in the varied hues of a sepia rainbow to a ribbon of achingly blue sky. At the far end of the crystalline pool, the crooked narrow slot Anna remembered as a torture chamber worthy of the Spanish Inquisition was a shadowed lane of water that drifted from turquoise to teal as it meandered deeper into the rock.”
Components:
Turquoise(blue)-dyed chalk turquoise pendant and 10mm rounds, Teal AB 8mm round crystals, 4mm Luster Blue 4mm rondelle crystals, gold-plated brass beads and toggle clasp, seedbeads in colors to "paint" canyon walls.Additional Images:

There are no pendant coins left that will coordinate with the chalk turquoise rounds. That will make it special for the auction, tho. I’ll report back after Friday’s event (I get to PLAY Scrabble this year!).
