Bohemian Beach Wood Necklace

About this design:

Continuing on the theme. When I ordered the 500 wood beads I ordered some aqua ones also, round and small disk. They match the ribbon I got from LB. The 500 wood beads were painted so I'm mad I didn't read the description better. But I can use them, 2 are in this piece.

Included a photo of box of beads per request. Surprisingly it doesn't look like as large of a pile as.I.envisioned.

Components:

Wood beads large and small. Aqua wood beads. Silver spacers, beadcaps, small beads and rings. Silk ribbon. S-lon stringing cord.

Really pretty. That’s a divine turquoise–not too bright. That ribbon is a great touch.

Thank you Peggy ang Crazy Beader. Those aqua beads are really such a pretty color.
Thank you Laud. I kinda forgot I had the ribbon. And I see what you mean by fragile. I didn’t have that fraycheck stuff. Not good.

Deb, great design and I love the way the necklace adjusts. Agree with you and everyone else – the aqua is very pretty. Thanks for the pic of the beads :) You sound like me – LOL – I envision 500 of anything to be and enormous amount. Still and all, I’m certain you’ll use them to their maximum potential in equally divine designs!

Cool! I like the aqua beads for a splash of color. I also like the multiple shades of wood.

TOO many beads!!! ;) Looks like you have LOTYS of projects in your future.

This so pretty and beachy. Perfect for summer vacation. The aqua beads add a splash of color, and the ribbon finishes it off. Love it!

I heard applying clear nail polish to the edges of the ribbon keeps it from fraying. Never tried it, though.

I think I would rather use silk cord instead. I think the ribbon is pretty but too flimsy looking for this necklace for some reason. I like it and I don’t like it I don’t know how to explain it.
    Thank you everyone.

Deb this is such a cool summery design. You need to wear it with a flirty dress, your hair down, drink in hand…. :) Try a thin strip of nail polish on the edge of the ribbon. Fray check is basically the same think. ( in one of my previous lives I worked in a fabric store) I think the ribbon is the perfect touch but I know they are flimsy. I have resigned myself to using them for decoration not function.

Its not for me Becky. Its to take to that shop. I’ve made 2 more today.

Isn’t there some kind of ribbon that is actually substantial enough to use for this. Vecause the piece on here is about to tear already.

Deb love this! The colors are perfect. I’m a bit cautious using that ribbon to hold a necklace, I think they work better as decoration. Because they are so fragile. The look of them is great though and I do love the look of the ribbon in your design. The ribbons with sewn edge here at LB is far more stronger as well as the stringing ribbon.

Go to a fabric or craft store and check out the grosgrain ribbon. It is 2 sided, strong, and textured with a finished edge. Sometimes you can find it with color patterns but if all there is is solid colors, I would try drops or stripes of alcohol ink. If you want, I could get some, add the ink, and send it to you so you know what I mean and you can try it out. I already have the inks and I know where to find it.

Thank you Frida. I’m probably going to take the ribbon off as the neck string. You’re right it is not strong enough.

Becky, I’m going to look at Hancock today and see if they have the cord. I put this on and the ribbon felt itchy to me so I’m not sure thats the way I want to go. I’m thinking summer, sunburned skin, you want something smooth back there. I will let you know if I change my mind. I’m going to look at the ribbon also. The ribbon is so pretty withit but its just not going to hold up. Blast!!!

    Thank you Valley Girl.

Peggy remember when I posted the bracelets I said I was.taking them to.a shop where my neighbor takes the wooden swings he builds. I’m.taking a few necklaces also.
