Yes, I remember that pick. Well this turned out beautiful! How did you make the rope/cord out of embroidery floss, I hope it’s easy cause I’d love to be able to do it.

Asia, it’s called a Spinster, and you can get one for around $10 at craft shops or online. Another way to make cording is to use a hand drill with a hook instead of drill bit.

Thanks for the info, “Spinster”? LOL

We used to make those tools from empty wooden spools of thread (remember wooden spools???) and some well-spaced nails. :) Love the necklace, Laud! It is perfect! :)

I do remember wooden spools–actually have a few–but the corder gives a different pattern. Picture the cording on throw pillows or drapes. That’s what you get from the tool.

Laud–I didn’t look at your tool closely enough. Now I know what yours does! :)

The picture’s a little confusing. In fact, the cording is one long strand doubling back on itself. It uses two shades of green plus one strand of brown. I tried red, but the effect was too carnival-y. Oh, and the Czech squares are really interesting. They’re different colors on front and back.
