About this design:
Been at it again with the torch. Love the colors you can get. One disc got toasted a bit too much but all in all I'm pleased with the color and design. However, it looks a little bare to me. What do you think... does it need anything more? Or am I just being too picky?

Lois D says:Your design is ‘just right’, for me! I admire your torch skills (someday I hope to try this). Love your ‘way’ with copper.

JC Hamm says:You don’t need to add anything to it, it’s fantastic on it’s own. This would be something I would wear ALOT!!! I want to learn how to work with a torch, although my husband would freak out, he say I’m accident prone and would more than likely do damage to myself or others!!!! But I still want to try! I love your work alot and always look forward to what new things you’ve done. Bravo!!!

Laud says:I love the links the way they are, but if you want to add a special touch, put one smashing gemstone atop a side link. That would create an element of surprise–always good.

Blooming Ideas says:Wonderful piece! What fun playing with the torch!

KatsAllThat says:This is soooo gorgeous…keep that torch burning!

Fresh Baked says:Agree that the color on these is gorgeous, Nancy. My opinion for what it’s worth is to let that stand as the center focus of this well designed necklace and not compete with any other elements.

NY Bella says:This is gorgeous! Love it the way it is!

Julie Shane says:I can’t believe these are plain washers! I love what you do with your torch! I also like that some pieces are more torched than others. Variety in color!
I like the simple design that lets the focus fall to the colors. However, like Laud suggests, maybe a dangle of lapis or sodalite in one of the rings on one side and on a disk on the other side. A little pop of unexpected contrasting color. A little bit asymmetrical within the symmetry.

foxhill designs vt says:Love it! The simplicity of the design lets the color variation stand out.

Little Round Chick says:Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of the wonderful comments and compliments. This is one of those pieces that I looked at for so long I couldn’t tell If it was a candidate for the closet or disassembly. I appreciate the input.
Rowdy Girl, I got these washers from Harbor Freight. The hardware stores here just sell pre-packaged ones with few washers and they get an outrageous price for them.
I’d like to encourage all of you who are interested in torch work to give it a try. I wouldn’t have had the courage to do it if I hadn’t taken a class at the LBS. It was called “Fun with Fire!” So take a class if one is available. It really is fun to play with fire!

Asia says:Love it I would not change a thing, but of course you have the ultimate saying on this

Deb Harding says:Nancy I also think your necklace is perfect as is. I would not add a thing to it. Your torch work has given each washer and disc such a great marled effect that any other color would detract from that. If you added anything “maybe” a stone in the same color family linked in one of the larger washers. But that’s a big maybe.

puppychick labratbecky says:I love the colors you produced with your pyro act! I love it as is but I can see what you mean. I think a TINY seed bead, glass, or stone, of the same color, hung right in the center of the middle circle might give it one little pop of texture. You don’t want to cover much and you want to keep that the focus piece. Or, a chain hung between the top 2 washers with one more smaller torched circle. ?? but really, the piece stands alone VERY well as is. Those are just things I might have considered, I’m not saying it needs anything.

Eeka Mouse says:Gorgeous! I wouldn’t add anything- might distract from the beauty of the delicate graduations in the patina.
Where do Cu discs come from?

I wouldn’t change a thing!
I’ve GOT to get me a torch!!!

Beadlady3 aka Cindy says:Oh, Mary S stole my words! haha! Totally Awesome! I love it. I’ve been playing with wire lately, but now I want to hammer & torch! Dang, I’m stuck at the office for 4 more hours!
ps – I love harbor frieght for those washers, what a deal!

Little Round Chick says:Thanks again everyone. Sitting down at the computer and reading all of your wonderful comments really starts my day off well. It’s gray here so your comments put some sunshine in my morning.
Eeaka… I got the washers at Harbor Freight. Fresh Baked told me about them and right where to find them.
On Feb 21, 2013 at 12:29 pm #
Eeka Mouse says:I asked about the discs, not the washers.
On Feb 21, 2013 at 3:27 pm #
Little Round Chick says:OH! Sorry about that! I need to wake up. I got the discs from Monster Slayer. They have the best prices and selection I’ve found to date. They are located in either New Mexico or Arizona… I don’t remember which. I also get wire from them and sheet copper. TMI?
On Feb 21, 2013 at 5:56 pm #
puppychick labratbecky says:Not TMI–if Eeka doesn’t need that, I do.
Thanks!! anything to help in our hunt for body parts!

Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Nancy, this is fantastic! I love all your metal work! You have such a talent for this! Thanks for the shopping info, too — always appreciated!
I have a small propane torch & have enjoyed using it. Now I just need to use it more often….

Fresh Baked says:Hi, Nancy. I just got back from a store in Kearny Mesa. Do you know about Industrial Metal Supply on Ronson Road? They have scrap copper sheet for less than $5.00/pound. Great sizes for making jewelry. Also got some expensive Permalac spray to seal copper. Not sure this works on heat patina, but it was recommended.
On Feb 22, 2013 at 5:32 pm #
Eeka Mouse says:thanks!
On Feb 22, 2013 at 6:36 pm #
Fresh Baked says:Oh, dear. I’m am so sorry that the Permalac spray did not work either. Took all the gorgeous blues, greens, and deep pinks right out. Left some pretty oranges, golds and reds though. Bummed.

Crazy Chick Frida says:Awesome, love it eaxctly how it’s! Wouldn’t change a thing.

Little Round Chick says:Thanks for the tip, Lynda. I’ll have to go take a look.
I need a new project since the Farmers Market where I’ve been selling my jewelry for almost 2 years has closed the Crafters section with very little notice. No real reason given…. Gotta love the city of La Mesa.
Thanks again Beading Friends for all of your comments and compliments.
