About this design:
I did a pick in January called "Sunburst", which used the agates and blackstone. When I studied the focal, though, I didn't see sunflowers or a sunburst; instead, I saw the legendary Caves of Keshcorran in Ireland. Couldn't decide which side of the focal I liked best, so I left the bezel open--all I have to do is turn the necklace over to use the other side.
Components:
Mexican sunflower agate, Brazilian blackstone, antique copper rounds and clasp--all LB. Yellow jade and seed beads from my stash.Read the comments (or add your own)

Laud says:It’s simple, but I like it. I challenged myself to do something that didn’t use fancy artisan beads. Problem is this took three times as long to make as one with more sumptuous elements.

Lois D says:The matte finish on the brazilian blackstone really looks wonderful with the mexican sunflower agate, one of my favorite stones. Your bezel/focal is just beautiful! Such artistry, like a gorgeous watercolor in an ornate frame. Love your designs!

Medieval Momma says:Your choice of color and components is spot on as always! You are an artist!

Laud says:*blushes* You’re all too kind.
JC–There are only two stitches involved: twisted herringbone and peyote. If you learn those, you’re on your way.
Oh, I did want to say that one of the beads–the jonquil with burnt orange lining–is a sensational color I’ve only found here at LB. So, if you want a color that’s mid-way between yellow and orange, it’s the one.

Crazy Chick Frida says:Wonderful work, Laud! Those brazilian blackstones ads some coolness to the design
On Mar 02, 2013 at 7:56 am #
Laud says:Thanks, Frida. I think the blackstone is essential. I’d hoped to use more of it, but each stone is heavy, so it has to be used sparingly.
