Is it Jasper?

I made this for my daughter-in-law for Christmas. I don't know what the stone is? I'm guessing a jasper, but would appreciate any info.

Components:

I was beading with a good friend last night, and we each have some of these stones. We don’t know what the stone is and I can’t find any quite like it online. It is opaque, not translucent, so I am thinking probably jasper. As usual, the picture does not quite do justice to the lovely swirls of cream and chocolate browns in the stones. Help???

Harriet, it seems similar to LB’s Porcelain Jasper, but yours appears lighter.

This is just a gorgeous necklace!!! I love your design! What a lucky daughter-in-law to have such a generous and talented mother-in-law! :D

Thank you very much ladies. I appreciate your kindness, and comments. :D

I thought it looked a little like the porcelain jasper, too, Lynn. But it has more cocoa tones and no pinkish tones. Maybe I should give up and call it brown porcelain jasper? LOL After all, we have zebra jasper that is black and white, brown, etc, so why not? ;)

Thanks, Sweet Chick! She says it is one of her favorites, esp. because the way I did the chain and toggle combo. makes the length adjustable for different necklines. :-)

OOO! Neat idea with the toggle! I’ve always struggled with trying to make toggle necklaces adjustable.
What size chain and toggle bar did you use?

This is beautiful, Harriet. It looks like Coffee Marble Jasper or Picasso Jasper (not the multi-color one) to me. :)

Sweet Chick, the opening in the chain was about 1/4 inch long and wide. I used a toggle 3/4 inch long with it. It just needs a toggle that will slide easily into the hole, and still be long enough not to slide out and drop the necklace. I have used a similar idea to make watches and bracelets adjustable for different buyers. I will try to post one of those before the end of the month. :-)

It really is a pretty stone, and the feel and weight, and polish make me pretty sure it is a jasper. :-)

In my opinion, which I share quite freely,(snicker) it is either jasper or agate. That way you have about a 90% chance of being right. I’m with the rest of you it is beautiful and probably a variety of jasper. Maybe it is a new variety just waiting for all of us to come up with a really good name…cocoa marble jasper? Chocolate and vanilla swirl? Neopolitan?

It’s lovely Harriet! I think as you can’t find out which Jasper it is we should christen it “Harriet Jasper” :)

Thank you all so much! I have really enjoyed reading your kind comments. :-)

Spiral Chick, how about Happy Jasper? Sort of like the sould of that one. Tee-hee. ;)

Lynn, the toggle idea was inspired by wanting to keep the necklace versatile in length. Liz’s mom says she really likes it and wears it.
