Coral and Pearls
About this design:
Still doing auction pieces, and had some red coral I wanted to play with. Hammered out some large washers, embossed them, and darkened them with Liver of sulfer. Strung the coral with pearls, added some aqua chalcedony and two different color swarovski's, and finished it off with a pretty sari silk ribbon. Summertime worthy, I hope!

rootware says:For embossing, I use a rolling mill. It is a big investment, but worth it because I also use it to fold form metal and flatten wire( to use as bezel edges or for other design). You can use almost anything for the emboss design.. you can buy pre-embossed metal strips, use fabrics, netting, metal objects, etc. I especially love to color the metal when I am done with either vintaj patina’s, alcohol based inks ( also tres cool cause you can put sparkly pigment powders with the inks), or chemically treat the metal ( liver of sulfur, ammonia salts, etc)… and sand off the top to allow the emboss to shine through. The possibilities are endless!
