About this design:
Dragonflies and wetlands go together, but fen sounds so much better than swamp, doesn't it?
I still haven't tried the various metal-coloring techniques. The pendant uses gold paint.

Vintaj brass, Ocean Jasper, seed beadsRead the comments (or add your own)

puppychick labratbecky says:Love this!!! Are those ocean jasper all gold and brown tones? or do you have green or other colors? I can’t see very well on this computer…
WHatever it is, I love it!!

puppychick labratbecky says:p.s. I think the word fen is much better but it can have an evil connotation…. Have you ever read the book “Ghost Story”? There was a bad character named Fenny. Evil and scary.
My kind of book.

Elis Mom says:Lovely, Laud! I’m curious…how did you keep the pendant from sliding around on the branch, and the whole thing hanging unevenly? I made something similar a while back, and some issues with it hanging correctly.

Laud says:Becky, all the stones are a mix of mustard, gray, white and black. Fen has a good connotation to me since there’s a lovely fenlands part of England.
Susie, two circles of beads stabilize the branch. There’s a ring going around the top branch on the left, and another circling the top branch on the right. They keep the pendant from moving around and going off center.

Deb Harding says:A real beauty Laud. The pendant hanging from the branch really makes this piece standout.

puppychick labratbecky says:Deb–You know about Peter Straub?
Did you read Lost Boy, Lost Girl? and the “sequel”? He has the gift for surreal and creepy.
Laud, I actually love the word “fen”. My biology training taught me all the unique life forms that live in them.

puppychick labratbecky says:Stephen King is a little different. I haven’t read all of them….. yet…..

Laud says:Thank you! I’m happiest with natural colors. They’re comfort food for the eyes. This necklace is easy to wear and light. It isn’t complicated, but I like it a lot.

Little Round Chick says:You are right, fen is a more poetic name than swamp.
Regardless of what you call it the design is great!
