Heart Aflame

About this design:

I used a metal smithing procedure called repousse to make this heart. It is "pounded" out from the back side of the metal. It is made of copper. I used a torch patina and added some twisted copper wire with tourmaline nuggets.

Copper,copper wire, Tourmaline, greek leather

Mmmm, lovely! A beautiful design in relief! Now I want to try this!

Your skills are very good, you must have a lot of practice and a good instructor.

I am a metal smithing student…my instructor is nationally known for her work with Japanese alloys and her beautiful unique jewelry pieces. She is a “purist” and she really pushes us to make all components of a piece from hand – not ready made. This is a real challenge sometimes!

thanks for all your positive comments everyone!
