About this design:

This is my second project with the metallic leather and first with ribbon. The ribbon was originally going to be a second strand but it looked too "busy" and I really wanted to use it, soooooo..... What do you think? Too much going on? What about the dangles?

Components:

Metallic gray leather, chocolate ribbon with black edges, light grey porcelain beads, wooden beads, lamp work focal, SS beads and clasp.

Leave it like this! I love the whole thing! Did you do a crochet chain stitch with the leather? Or is it some kind of braid? That is such a cool idea–gives it strength and texture.

Great design….I’d lose the dangles (dont hate me!). Other than that, I like the use of the cord and ribbon intertwined, and the beads are fab.

Looks great as is! Love the deep colors in this and the ribbon enhances the focal bead perfectly. Gorgeous Gail!! :)

I really like how you incorporated the ribbon. Don’t change a thing!

Really lovely but I vote for losing the dangles or putting them somewhere else. They take away from the focal, which is beautiful. Over all an awesome piece.

Striking design and equally striking colors. I thing the dangles are a bit light for the boldness of the rest of the piece. It might be nice to add some of that metallic leather braid around the focal.

Thanks everyone! Seems the dangles are 50/50 which is what I got when I asked random people walking through my house :-)
Becky-I don’t really know what the leather chain stitch/braid is, I kinda made it up…

Beautiful piece. The colors are so warm. I think the dangles detract from the focal

Straight to the favorites, Gail. The lampwork is divine and your ability to make all the components play well together is stunning! So unique. I love this.

Laud-That’s IT! That’s what was bothering me about the dangles, but I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. You hit the nail on the head!

Agree that the dangles are too small – - one bigger dangle might be more in proportion and add a touch of asymetry. But love the overall idea, Gail, and the colors are great !

I learn so much by reading the dialogues that accompany the designs in LB’s gallery. How about a tiny ‘pop’ of turquoise by the dangles?

Love the look of the ribbon thru the chain. Love the colors in this. Great work.

I love the stones you used and the leather/ribbon combination. I would lose the dangles, they take away from the focal point. Otherwise, I LOVE your creation.

I’m SO late to this party… I really like the colors and the ribbon. I agree that the dangles are a bit timid. But I really do like those paisley dangles!!! :)

Really like the mix of different elements to this particular piece of jewelry. Love the colors and that focal bead sets off the entire piece. I’m not too fond of the dangles as your focal bead is enough to make that statement. Sometimes when you think to add that little something extra…it can deter from it. You hit it on the head going with your gut feeling. It would look better without the dangles. It’s a beautiful piece.
