Chocolate Mint Blossom

About this design:

So I took a break from my super cleaning and watched a movie. And started beading. Just messing around with some pearls. The flower focal is part of a large 3 piece thing but I took it apart.

Also featured is the new TOY!! TERRIFIC TABBY TANGLE TWISTER!! Actually Precious (& Mousey durn him) had babies but I haven't said anything because of all the bad stuff that happened before. 6 freaking babies that will need homes in about 3-4 weeks. They already eat solid food, poop in a litter box, just really started playing. They are all very small for their age because Precious is small and there were so many. 5 are tabbys 1 is black and white, the runt. That is Pee Wee. The tabby with the streaky nose is Tippy Toes because there is white only on the tips of her toes. The little 1 with the big white forehead is Honey Pie. The other 3 are the 3 stooges...just because.

Components:

Green freshwater pearls. Brown freshwater pearls. Green bell flowers. Copper flower focal. Brown seed beads. Green frosted glass beads. Copper jump rings, headpins, lobster claw, hook.

All these photos are after a nap which followed a bath. They ate canned food and literally rolled in it. Then some went to the litter box and got grit all over. It was not a pretty sight. Then they all started crying. Pitiful!! Precious is not cleaning them much anymore so I’ve had to start giving them baths almost every day.

Oh…my…GOODNESS! I can’t stand it (the boo boo baby kitties). I LOVE the bracelet; really like what you did with the filigree focal and the bell flowers. Deb, I owe you a PM, haven’t meant to ignore. Hit a busy spot. Regardless, will be in touch.
I LOVE THESE KITTIES. I’ll be your back-up if you can’t find homes for them.

I LOVE the bracelet(s)! Could be my all-time favorites. I inherited some mint pearls–you’ve inspired me to use them.

I love the green bracelet with the pearls. GORGEOUs. You guys are so talented. I wish I could be joining you. I’m dragged down with picking cemetery markers, etc. Trying to keep up with a little cleaning. You know what its like for a bachelor how they “DON’T” clean! Unh! He’s my son and I love him but oh my. Looking forward to going home to my fully air conditioned house all on ONE LEVEL. These stairs/steps are killing this old lady.

Keep up the great work ladies.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the minty green pearls and bellflowers. The dangles are the perfect complement to that fab focal.

Gee wiz Deb. How can you tell they are Mousey’s babies? LOL. Now he really IS a baby daddy. How does BB like the little ones?

Fabulous bracelets and even more adorable kitties – - would be hard to resist if I lived near you and had room in my life for cats. Alas, neither condition is true right now, but I am sure you will find homes for pretty kitties with such big blue eyes – - -

Very pretty bracelet, and very adorable kitties. My favorite is Pee Wee the runt. I always root for the underdog :-D Hope all is well with you Deb.

Thank you everybody. I really appreciate the compliments. I wasn’t planning on making any jewelry any at all. But I had wanted to use that little copper flower piece for awhile & it just popped into my head during the movie.

The seed bead part was a 3rd strand but it just wouldn’t hang right…so.I just took it off.

Today was the 1st day ButterBall & Mousey really spent any time with the babies. BB thinks they are toys. Mousey was a doting father sitting on a box watching them play in the hall. Mousey is such a good cat.

    Deb Harding says:

Wanda my favorite is Pee Wee also. I actually had to bottle feed her some for awhile. She was getting pushed out when they got about 2 weeks old. She is a little fighter now as far as food but still somewhat timid.

Hope you recognize the pearls (green & brown) Becky. I was so glad the green perfectly matched those $1.00 bell flowers & those little frosted glass beads that I found in a bag of green seed beads I had.

    Deb Harding says:

Thanks Becky..I appreciate the compliment. I told Susie the other day I sometimes feel at a disadvantage because I cant really afford expensive components or findings, I don’t have a functional work space right now, & I’m not really knowledgeable about a lot of techniques.

  19. Asia
    Asia says:

OMG, those kitties are so cute,Deb don’t you ever doubt your abilities, you are talented and you made a huge progress in a few months, the bracelets are the proof, they are outstanding :D

Love, love, love this bracelet Deb! The colors are divine and the arrangement of the design is beautifully balanced!
Please, don’t underestimate your talents! It seems to me that you are a natural at creating. Take delight your creations my friend!

Now, for the kitties…… HOW FREAKING ADORABLE!!
:-D Those blue eyes are irresistible! But that little black and white tuxedo is my favorite! If you lived closer, one of those little fellers would be living with me. ;-)

  21. Elis Mom
    Elis Mom says:

Deb, this is one of my faves, and the kitties are too cute! I don’t have a true functional work space, either. I sit on an ottoman in front of an old coffee table, and my dewey decimal system for organizing my stash is nonexistent at the moment.

I am with Asia, do not doubt your capabilities!

  22. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

See you guys are misunderstanding me. I’m saying I feel I have a disadvantage because I cant afford good components. I’m not really doubting my abilities so much (nor am I being boastful). I’m just saying if I could buy good findings/clasps/beadcaps & nicer components I think I could do a lot better. If I weren’t working on my couch with all the boxes stacked in front of it I might would actually utilize what I do have a little better. I have no work surface. And if I could learn this torch stuff & doing things to metal to.change it(heating, hammering, embossing etc) I could really give things a much more.professional look.
The space area is part.of the reason I’m taking a break. I’m trying to straighten out the room where I used to have my desk/computer.so.I can put my table that’s in storage in there. Then I will have an.organized work area. Just have some issues with Bella having peed on the floor numerous times and I getting ready to.refinish floors when I lost my job and the project went on hold.

  23. SquirrelGirl aka Angela
    SquirrelGirl aka Angela says:

Deb, I totally relate. I am working in a small RV with VERY limited storage space and even more limited work space. I have half the dinette for a work surface (when we’re not eating) and my bead boxes stacked on the dog food bin beside me (the beading tower of power as my boyfriend calls it, ha ha). If I can make it, so can you! Hang in there, you’re doing great. I love your work! I also love your kits. I have some strays who have adopted us and are currently living under our rig. We’re trying to find them homes. I’ll show pics next time.

  24. franny
    franny says:

oh Deb, I was captivated by your bracelet before I saw your kitty-pics, now i’ll have to show the whole family!….love chocolate mint & tiger-stripe babies!….I forego carats & SS also & I agree it would be nice to “step-up” as some items demand & deserve highest quality (&price)!…as for storage, who needs a ‘beer’ fridge when it can serve as a ‘BEAD’ fridge!!!…perfect with all those accessible shelves & compartments, especially the door.LOL..so good luck with all you are trying to accomplish, Deb!

  25. SquirrelGirl aka Angela
    SquirrelGirl aka Angela says:

Oh my gosh, forgive me! I meant to mention how beautiful your bracelet is! And you used my favorite color green, just lovely!

  26. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

LOL actually I hadn’t even noticed Angela. I was so busy feeling like a whiner when I read your work station story. Thanks for the kick in the pants. I actually needed that. LOL!
And Franny love your storage solution…who meeds a beer fridge indeed??

  28. Crazy Beader
    Crazy Beader says:

Hi Deb – - just love reading all the conversation about beading and kittens. Totally understand what you mean about not being able to buy the expensive components for your jewelry (me either). But sometimes part of the fun is making something interesting with what you have on hand – - the challenge of making things work together. Think you definitely have that talent, too ! Thanks for sharing your kitties with the rest of us – - -

  29. puppychick labratbecky
    puppychick labratbecky says:

I still think we could make a go of something like a once a year get-together LB chickies jewelry sale somewhere. Deb is actually in a perfect location because of all the seasonal visitors to NC. I can relate to your not being able to afford the good stuff. I am quitting my job for my mental health and being put on a very short leash.

Asia, Cindy, and lots of others do a lot of things on the cheap with wire and components from the hardware stores and a good old hammer and torch. Sculpey clay is not too expensive for making your own focals. I think there are ways around carats and SS like franny said. You do a great job with what you have on hand and what you scrounge up. Angela, too, is making do. And hubby and I will be learning the hard way how to survive on half our income. I fully intend to be more self-sufficient and mentally healthier and I think (I hope) it will show in my creations. There are a lot of noncreative people out there who will pay for art. You are an artist. Your things do not have to be grade AAA to be fabulous.

  30. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

Becky I’m so glad you are leaving your job. I know, just from the short time I’ve been here, that your job does not make you happy. I know you enjoy the actual work but the people imvolved make your time impossible. I can totally relate to that. Its why I was not upset about losing the actual job last.year, more just the way it was handled and the fact that I was unemployed. A**hats can always make thinks impossible to endure.

LOL seasonal visitors to NC. Don’t take this wrong but there are many many times I wish people didn’t love our beaches so much. I’ve seen beautiful natural beaches with cute cottages, quaint little hotels, & cool old fishing piers turn into condo cities, McMansions blocking views, & only 2 piers. Don’t get me started on the traffic & the trash. I MISS MY OLD BEACHES!!! I live between 2 beach areas. Topsail is the least crowded and the least developed. I guess its my new beach. So are you saying people that could all come to the beach here and get together and also have a jewelry sale? Excuse me if.I.sound dense…been smelling.cleaning.fumes all morning helping my neighbor clean her rental house. That actually sounds cool.

Yea I know Asia buys wire and metal from.the hardware store. I want to.do.stuff like that. I just need to learn how but I don’t want to.waste material learning so.its something that will have to wait. Might buy wire today. Going to.Harbor Freight to.get a tire for my wheel barrow.

Good luck Becky on this new phase..Hey who know maybe you’ll find a part-time job related to your type of work that doesn’t stress you out. Someone might come looking for you when they find you are available.

  31. Gail Layne
    Gail Layne says:

Love the bracelet and the creativity involved in taking something else apart to make it how you see it. Love the kitties too, especially the one with the smudged nose! I totally identify with the lack of work area problem too. A couple of years ago I lost the ability to sit for more than 10 or 15 mins. without extreme pain. I wasn’t about to give up beading so I devised a method that involves beading on a largeish tole tray with a small lip while laying on the bed. That means all my supplies have to be either in a closet or trunk or three. I live for the day that my spare room actually becomes spare and I can have some kind of shelving/cabinet arrangement where I can at least see all my colors in one spot!

Mary S - Sweet Chick says:

Ah…….gotcha’! Sorry for the misunderstanding, Deb.
However, more expensive components don’t necessarily make better Art. Art comes from within. (And you definitely have it in you! I love your stuff!)Artists throughout the ages have used what they’ve had on hand to express their creativeness. And THAT is their genius……(and yours too.)

As for more space, You are doing a great job with what you have! Looks like “small space” pushes the creativeness out of you and Angela both!
I pray that some day soon, things will turn around for you on the financial front. I have faith that it will. :-D
