Burgundy Wave

About this design:

Necklace and earrings .
Burgundy.... For some reason the photo would not really show the correct color of Magatama beads : they are Burgundy Gold but it show them as brown :( and there are reds, purples and copper in them. The lucite flowers on the other hand are not that purple , they are burgundy also :(

Components:

Czech beads 6/0 and Miyuki Long Magatama, Lucite flowers ( I used two on each end ;) ,copper wire, copper chain and copper plated hook.

Your kumihimo designs are beautiful and I especially love this one! The last photo really show the colors well. I have just started kumihimo and it’s adictive! I’m ready to start using long magatamas…is there any particular places for the best prices? Can’t wait until I can use the magatamas as well as you do. And your matching earring are an extra special touch!

Julia, this is gorgeous. I love how you incorporate different beads in with the magatamas. I forgot to ask you the last time, but, if I may ask now, what size Lucite flowers do you use for the ‘cones’?

Thank you, gembeans ( sorry I do not know your name …) and Peggy :) Long magatama’s ( Miyuki) best prices and very good choice are in ArtBeads.com.

Small magatama (TOHO) which looks like Miyuki’s fringe drops but 1/2 mm smaller are here on the Lima Beads: better choice and better prices. I wish LB would carry Long Magatama though…

    Thank You Lois :)

Bell flowers are more suitable for it then trumpets : 12mm by 18mm and 23mm by 22mm.

On this one: 12mm by 18mm and I doubled them. I may triple them next time ;) it is a very nice extension… lol

Julia, thank you for that very helpful information. I’m new at kumihimo and because of your designs, have started added some of my long mags. that I have collected. I love your use of the Lucite flowers and thank you for sharing your idea of what kinds and sizes to use.

Lois, my pleasure! :) And good luck! :) :)

The trumpet flowers are beautiful but they have a one side opening and as a result your threads are difficult to hide ;)
