Pink Mod Flower

About this design:

Trying a new wire wrap technique where you make a big loop. You can do it on 1 or both sides of your bead/stone. Kinda cool because it looks like jump rings but isn't. The flower focal was another $1.00 find but it was brown. I painted it with quartz patina & a little nail polish.

Components:

Wood flower focal. (Quartz patina & pink nail polish). Pink tumbled opal nuggets (Lima Beads). Ceylon innocent pink square seed beads (Lima Beads). Beige seed beads. Copper wire. Button.

Everything about this design is adorable. The colors are so soft and sweet and the focal is just perfect.

Love love love this! So adorable. Did you create a hook for the button to form a clasp?

Wonderful as usual Deb. I really like the effect of the big loop. You are so creative!

    Thanks MM, Susie, & Janet.
Uea Susie I made a hook to go behind the button. Thanks heavens its hidden. My clasp making needs lots of work.
Janet I actually saw big wrapped loops like these on several necklaces…some by Lorelei Eurto, some by Heather Powers, then some on Pinterest. I really liked the look but you meed thick wire.
So I wore the necklace tonight & it kept getting lopsided…so something is not balanced…gotta figure that out.

Maybe its heavier on one side than the other. Do you have some glitz to add to it. I just looked again and the section with the wirewrapped beads looks shorter. Is it?

Sometimes I think it’s simply the motion of the person wearing hte piece. I have several necklaces that are perfectly symmetrical, but after a while they tend to go towards one side or another, and I have to simply straighten it back out….

  8. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

The wire wrapped bead section is the same length as the double seed bead strand. That turns to one strand. But the wire wrapped section seems heavier not the other side.

    What do you mean glitz?

    Deb Harding says:

I think its because the flower has no weight at all. I will just have to straighten it..lol.

Very lovely design Deb! I’d not want to change it at all, but to keep it in place, what if you hung a few small charms or dangles off the double stand side as a counter weight?

    Granny Nancy says:

Aha… yes a light pendant will do that unfortunately. Its such a sweet necklace. By glitz I meant something with sparkle and much like Angela suggested with dangles. Like tiny clusters of dangles using some crystal bicones – 3 or 4mm. But perhaps you could hang some weight with some dangles with the pendant – a cluster of whatever? I put some pinks in that pkg but forget the size.

I fixed what was wrong. I actually had to shorten the wire wrapped side by 1 opal. With the hook added that side was really longer.

Sorry no glitz or dangles for this. I dont think this design needs extras. If you look at the pink seed beads they sparkle.

I’m glad to hear you fixed it. In every picture, one side did look longer but after you said they were the same I figured it was an optical illusion. Regardless you fixed it and your happy. That’s what counts.

Totally cute! I really like what you did with the loops on the chain! What gauge wire is that? I love that you can take various odds and ends and end up with such cool end results. Made me look at the outdated jewelry I can’t bear to part with in an entirely new light.

    PS. Sending you a message.
