About this design:
This was the first spiral I ever created! I was so pleased with how it turned out that I decided to make it the focal piece for a necklace. I strung it on brown Griffin Silk Thread, added some fun beads and copper pieces, tied knots to hold them in place, and Voila! This one gets tons of compliments whenever I wear it! The spiral is almost 2" long.
This necklace is SOLD!!!
Components:
Copper wire; Griffin Silk Thread; copper spacers; multi-colored beads; copper s-clasp & jump ringsRead the comments (or add your own)

Great job with your first spiral!!!
On Sep 13, 2009 at 10:21 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Thanks, KH!
I used 16 gauge copper wire. It seemed to have more heft to it, which I liked. I saw some made out of 18 gauge, which also were nice, but they seemed more delicate to me, though still sturdy enough. Maybe just my perception. No, I didn’t do any soldering or gluing of any kind.
I forgot to mention that I antiqued the pendant with liver of sulfur solution.

LOL I don’t think you have anything to worry about in the wirework department…..
Remember, I’ve shopped at your store!
I haven’t set up a shop yet — figure I need some more inventory built up first.

Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Lynn!!! You amaze me !!! So many talents, and you still have time to be a friend and visit with us. Don’t know how you do it all, but so glad you do!
This is absolutely grand!!! I love the spirals–very nice wire work. I really admire your skill, and love this piece!
I tried some wire work last night, and could not get my pendant to cooperate with my wire…very late…gave up and went to bed!!! LOL
On Sep 14, 2009 at 10:35 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Harriet, I’m blushing…..
Thank you very much for all the lovely compliments!!!
You’ll conquer that wire — just keep at it and try it when you’re well-rested.
On Sep 14, 2009 at 11:01 am #
Yorkie chick aka CC says:Harriet I agree with you totally! But I’ve figured out Lynn’s secret….she doesn’t ever sleep!!!!!!
Bye until I can sign in again…………
Also Harriet, try the cheap wire first….don’t do like I did and end up with a zip lock bag full of “mistakes”; although I did get $31 for the scraps at local gem shop. Which reminds me don’t throw away your silver scraps or OOPSIES. Resell them to your local gem store so you have more money to buy more wire!!! Sorry this is so long; & not entirely on the subject of Lynn’s beautiful spiral…but my computer is shutting me out everytime I change pages. So am writing when I can get through. (I know Lynn…John called & told LB to keep me out!!!!!)
On Sep 14, 2009 at 1:08 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Wellllll, I sleep sometimes….
Good advice, CC, about practicing with craft/artistic wire first. Copper is an inexpensive alternative, too. Also good to save those scraps — $$$!
On Sep 15, 2009 at 12:06 pm #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:I have been saving my scraps of SS for a long time. LOL Someday I will have enuf to take to a jeweler I know and get him to cast me a ring!
My favorite wire to use for practice is the pure copper. Michael’s has some that is labeled “pure copper” and “recyclable.” It is fun to play with.
I probably won’t ever really get into much wire work. I have some arthritis and carple tunnel problems, and I am pretty protective about stressing my hands with too much repetitive motion stuff.
On Sep 16, 2009 at 9:13 pm #
Valentine Chick says:I love it Lynn! Your wire work is fabulous!
