Hoot commissioned by Granny Nancy

About this design:

Granny Nancy sent me a passel of purple and picture jasper beads and the idea of a design. After much redoing, I tore the thing apart and decided to let the beads dictate the design. I hope you like it, Nancy! Hoot is sliding on the chain so you can place the necklace at different spots around your neck. I hope the pictures show that.

Components:

Purple Crazy Lace Agate, Czech glass, Swarovski crystal, Picture Jasper, Ceramic beads, Kylie Parry Hoot, antiqued brass findings, chain, gunmetal artistic wire, and magatamas. I made all the wire components and the clasp and I also added 5 8mm round Lilac Stones from my stash and a few triangular brass spacers.

Oh, this is FABULOUS! The colors are superb, the unexpected elements keep the design flowing, and the wirework is wonderful. I like how you mixed sparklies with more rustic bits, which makes the piece adaptable for dress or casual clothing. Of course, Hootie is, as always, the scene stealer.

    Nancy should be thrilled–I’d be!

:) Thanks! She also sent along some dyed purple line agate but because they are so sparkly and clear I just couldn’t work them in. It needed the rustic bits and it took me all those trial and errors to let that happen. I was wishing I had some picture jasper spears but I think this finally turned out ok. :)

Now “Give a Hoot” has a brand new meaning, Becky ! Love the way you have made Hootie mobile – - and the whole design is just perfect.

Wow! This is fabulous! I love your wire work, especially the clasp! The rustic bits are fantastic! I think they are what keeps it from being too “cutsie” and gives it so much versatility. There is nothing here not to like! Great job!!

A feast for the eyes, and how much fun would it be to wear this? I could write a book, about your work, but don’t wanna take up all the band width. (whatever that is) ;)

Omigosh Becky… its awesome – what’s a better word for awesome. I can’t wait to get it around my neck. I love Hootie – I wish there were mini Hooties and have Hootie earrings. But the colors are perfectly asymmetrically arranged and everything belongs where it is. I couldn’t ask for a better design. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.

Those green agates are for you. Have fun some day creating something for yourself or whatever. I have my beautiful Hootie necklace and I couldn’t be more pleased.

I’ll post more after I get Hootie “home.” :)

I have to say also that I really appreciate the effort you put into that necklace for me. I’m going thru such a rough patch right now. I’m finally at the finish line with the taxes. Just a bit more to finish up.

But in doing all that I’ve neglected my house and there’s clutter and piles of paper all over the place. Its so frustrating that I’ve now reached that day that I have to realize its time to downsize big time and do it all alone with my memories of the man I lived with for 53 years and loved for many more. We were in high school together.

My bead room (guest bedroom) looks like there has been a bead explosion. Before I got heavily into the tax thing, I tried to make some things and got blocked with each one and put them aside. I started a new one – something very simple and clasic but not symmetrical. I think this may end up being on the way to the finish line. I’ve done little bits on it as I could or very early in the AM when I was restless but too tired to do anything else.

When its done I’ll post it as I bought the gems from LB. Its very simple – no grand design. Again Becky, you have been such a good beader friend to put all that effort into my Hootie and purple at that. Love you.

Wow, you guys are way too kind! :) Thanks so much, all of you!! I was just hoping for a little “yeah, that’ll work”. It was Nancy who gave me all the colors, most of the beads, and the double strand idea. She just needed help putting it together. She is one talented lady with a great eye for design!
