Dancing Leaves-Extremely Reworked

About this design:

So, the moment I posted the original piece, I hated it. It looked like it belonged on a Christmas tree, it was too stripe-y, the style of the Carnelian was wrong with the other stones, etc. There isn't much left of the original. Just the Turquoise, spacers and dangle. I added a Hill Tribe pendent which I drilled (!) an extra hole in and a whole bunch of other stuff. What do you think? The very last picture is the the first version.

Turquoise, Mookaite, Lava Rock, SS beads, chain, clasp and some spacers, silver plated bead caps, textured jump rings and some spacers. Hill Tribe focal

I’m actually neutral! I like it both ways!

I liked the first one, but I think I like this version better!

I must admit I do like this version…or should I say this necklace…better. Its more muted, elegant. But I still think the way you had the leaves done in the other version is something you should use again.

The second version is my favorite. I agree with your comments on the first version… it does have that Christmas look and the repeat pattern in the dark beads is strip-y and distracting. Isn’t it wonderful to be able to change your mind? I do like the change you made. :D

Thanks Becky, N4B, Deb and Nancy for your helpful (and encouraging!) comments! Do you all ever get in a place where you’re unsure about everything you make or you’re struggling with ideas? A slump maybe? Meh! Whatever it is, I’m not a fan! I don’t think I really like the shape of the Hill Tribe pendant with this piece but its the only thing I had that remotely went with it. At least I can replace it easily enough when I find something else I like better.
Deb, I liked the effect of the leaves too but maybe up the side of an asymmetrical necklace if I can ever make myself do one. Thank you for the comment.
Nancy, Thanks for agreeing. So when do wire lessons start?

I favorited your first version, but I will favorite this one too. I agree with everyone though that this one is my favorite of the two because of it’s muted tones compared to the striking colors of the first one. I love the lava, too cool! Your improv drilling worked out perfectly.

Oh yeah, I wanted to tell you all that the lava beads are really awesome in person but what a chore to string! Wanna guess how many times I determinedly poked at a hole that was a lava dink and not a stringing hole?

I’ve had that exact problem…. turns out I needed a new glasses prescription. :) But those beads do have a ton of holes. And I get into that slump every once in awhile. What I do is leave that piece or pieces alone and just start messing with something completely different.

Ha! Funny comment about needing new glasses. But I like the finished version as well. I’ll have to look at the pendant again a few times and comment on that.

I liked the first version, but your second attempt is also great! Yah those lava beads can be a real pain in the… :-D

I love the focal dangle on the first version, but I like the strung part on the second. Whatever, both are pretty cool!

I think taking out some beads, especially the bright red ones, simplified and strengthened the design. The Hill Tribe focal added a lot, as well. Good job!
