Regina v says:Thanks. It needs some solder though. Any ideas on what works?
On Sep 14, 2009 at 5:23 pm #
Vee aka Dream Chickie says:You are welcome!… Hmmm… I haven’t soldered anything yet. Do you mean tools for it or design ideas?
On Sep 14, 2009 at 5:29 pm #
Regina v says:I was wondering about whether there’s a best solder for silver, whether I still need to sand and dope the metal first, that sort of thing. I’ve done some plumbing, some detail soldering on wires, but no jewelry yet.
The other challenge will be keeping the soldering iron out of my husband’s secret sock drawer so I can use it. I came into the relationship with 30 screwdrivers, he had around 3. Now I have zero screwdrivers and he’s always taking the computers apart. Soldering iron is a stealable toy.

Vee aka Dream Chickie says:Ohh, I see. Have you tried firemountain gems or ask some of the other chickies here who may know more about soldering?
Wow about your tools! lol I guess you didn’t know you needed to hide them from your husband?! I agree, the soldering iron could definitely be a stealable toy!

Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Lovely work!!! Very pretty and straight to my Favs!
I started my marriage by putting pink acrylic paint on the handles of my own tools, and thought that would be enuf to keep hubby out of them…such a mislead little bride. He told me he never looks at handles, just what tool he needs. The only thing the pink was good for was to locate and take back my tools from his tool box or work truck. LOL
Definitely you need a secret stash of tools where he does not know the location.
This works best for me!!!

Regina v says:Hi Harriet,
Your pink handles made me think of my first after school job, not working for my folks. I was in a DNA synthesis and sequencing lab, back when molecular biology was still pretty new. Nothing was automated and we used a lot of handy little tools and handly little radioactive tracers.
My boss tried to keep his tools from being stolen by smearing enough radioactive tracer on “his stuff” to make the Geiger counters just scream. I didn’t touch his stuff. I also didn’t decide to pursue Molecular Biology.
