Garnet flowers

About this design:

You girls know how uncomfortable and unnatural is for me to use crystals, it actually was my last year resolution to incorporate them more in my designs, a year had past and I did nothing with them except this design, not very good at promises.

Components:

Garnet beads from LB, Clay River pendant, furnace glass tubes and Swarovski crystals from my stash, handmade copper clasp, connector and rings.

You did a wonderful job utilizing the crystals, Laud but I don’t understand why you would want to force yourself to use them. You have a wonderful, definitive style and I don’t see crystals as an element that could add anything to your art.

I’m with you there Asia: I don’t quite like crystals either, but I also think it’s good to try out new things. (People do tend to think my repertoire can be a bit all over the place because of that, but that’s their problem, I guess!) I love the “build” of this piece, I can imagine it looks quite stunning on! Have to put it into my faves, definitely!

Asia, you do have a point there. Since I’m fairly new at this, I tend to be all over the place style-wise so I really envy people that have a recognizable style and I certainly do love yours! I don’t care for crystals either although I will use one or two when they seem to be called for. I much prefer your earthy, funky style to more ornate pieces but you’ve managed to incorporate the crystals in a manner that doesn’t compromise that. Hats off to you!

Thank you again everyone. Gail, I’m quite new to beading also, about 14 months, my first hobby that I’m sticking with, I absolutely love it. Last year we had a whole bunch of crazy girls and did some challenges, it was so much fun and a great way to explore designs and push the boundaries.
