Key things in life...

About this design:

Talking about selling: just before Christmas I took some stuff to work to get a bit of circulation at my hairdresser's stand. When people realized I sell jewelry, I suddenly got several orders for keybands; many of us have keybands around the neck, and you get a bit fed up with the woven-polyester-with-commercial-texts versions after some time. Sometimes you find blingy ones with glass pearls and wire. I made one with black leather cord and glass and bone pearls for myself some years ago, and people apparently thought it looks cool. So suddenly I had to put all my large-hole beads into use, and string a row of keybands! Then my hairdresser saw the one with blue jasper, and said she wanted one, but without the key-clasp! Luckily I had just the pendant for her... They were simple and quick to make, no complicated techniques (a bit of fretting over combinations , though...), but people were happy!

Components:

Leather cord, large-hole beads (jasper from LB, glass and wood from stash), clasps. Copper wire for the wrapping of the pendant.

I too make card key holders for my daughter and her friends. Never thought of using leather. What a wonderful change it will be. Love your piece.

These are too cool, and SO much nicer than a sad nylon cord.(Which are always ugly, and uncomfortable). I especially like the blue! You’ll probably get more orders than you can keep up with. :)

Thanks gals! I’ve also seen one with some kind of small chips and seed beads combined — looked very African somehow. That I would like to try to copy for myself sometime!
