Isn’t he gorgeous!!! I lived in Asheville for a short time – up in the mountains. I saw this gorgeous irridescent blue bird and was so taken by it. I kind of got away from nature for a while because I’ve been living in a city since 1997. But with just me, Teddy and the cats I’m getting back into observing nature and want to incorporate nature into my jewelry. Thanks so much Jess. You are fun to work with.

Jess, do I see some Elven runes on your ring?!
Being the Tolkien fanatic that I am, I’ve got to know more! Please?!

    Thanks everyone! :D

Mary S: I wish that they were Elven as I absolutely LOVE Tolkien and the lord of the ring series. That WOULD be sooo AWESOME! It is a poesy ring that says: pences pov r moye dv! That is the screen name I used to use! :) DV is latin for Deo Volente and it translates to ‘Think of me God Willing’. I wear it with my wedding band. I found it in some stuff that my father in law had bought at estate sales through the years and hadn’t gone through. It was a replica of a ring that had been found during excavations of the Rose Theatre in London. The Museum of London made them for a while(It has the initials MoL inside)…I am not sure how it ended up in Michigan, only that’s where I came by it and thought it unique at the time! :D

OOOO! Latin is just as good! And the message “DV” too!
Do you know the translation for the rest of it; “pences pov r moye”? Or is that included in the translation you’ve given above?

  17. SweetBirchDesigns
    SweetBirchDesigns says:

That is included! The Deo Volente part means “God Willing”! :D I really like it and have had it for about 6-7 years.
According to Wikipedia: Deo Volente-God Willing: This was often used in conjunction with a signature at the end of letters. It was used in order to signify that “God willing” this letter will get to you safely, “God willing” the contents of this letter come true. As an abbreviation (simply “D.V.”) it is often found in personal letters (in English) of the early 1900s, employed to generally and piously qualify a given statement about a future planned action, that it will be carried out, so long as God wills (see James 4:13-15, which encourages this way of speaking). The motto of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.

    Ah! Very interesting!
On our mission trips to Haiti we would often say to our friends when we left, “See you next time” or “See you next year.” And their response was always “If God wills”.
A good habit the modern world has forgotten perhaps?

    Granny Nancy says:

As we grow older we learn better to appreciate life and how easily things and people can slip away. I usually add the phrase “Lord willing” to my goodbyes and that sort of thing.

Yea verily, Mary and Nancy! :D
