About this design:

This piece is the second piece I made last night using my new Vintaj supplies, and boy, was it a hassle! The smoky blue Chalcedony Square beads weren't drilled properly all the way through, and I had to sit for about an hour with the bead reamer trying to get the wire or Eyepins to fit through them. I still haven't decided if I should add chain to the back to help support the silk ribbon, but I'm leaning towards yes. The Patina on the large cabled rings, the flower, and the connectors is a mix of Onyx and Quartz, with a touch of Verdigris to give it a bluish shade. The floral centerpiece needed holes for the JumpRings, so I punched the 5 holes necessary, and it worked like a charm.

Components:

Vintaj: Floral Centerpiece, Connectors, Tiny Peanut Chain, Parawire in 22/24 Gauge, Eyepins, JumpRings, Patinas in Onyx, Quartz, and Verdigris; Smoky Blue Chalcedony Square Faceted Graduated Size Beads and Briolette; Blue Quartz Briolettes; Silk Ribbon from LimaBeads

Lovely! I hear ya…I hate when the holes aren’t drilled right. But you worked it out with this piece. I really like the transition of the Vintaj pieces with the chain.

That is beautiful and I APPLAUD your persistence. What gauge is the flower focal. And did you use a jewlery punch or something like a man would use in a metal shop?

Great job, Sonja – - know what you mean about reaming out holes. Never fun. Agree with you that the ribbon looks a little “stressed” without being supported by chain. Think it would lay better with the chain added – - -

There is nothing more frustrating than when the holes aren’t drilled properly! You certainly did a good job of it in spite of that! Loving this design…so intricate and delicate!

Lovely piece, worth all your effort. And I agree, the ribbon looks to be calling for help and some chain sounds like a good remedy. Maybe with the ribbon woven through? Whatever you decide, if you do update the piece, please update us. ;)

Your creations are gorgous and elegant. I hear ya on the improperly drilled holes. It’s beyond frustrating. Good for you,for solving the problems with tools. I toss them out.
(or sometimes hang on to them thinking they’ll magically work the next day) ha ha ha ha!! :)
