Flower Necklace

About this design:

I was hesitant about this piece. I've worked on it, on and off, for a month (maybe more). I'm really happy with the flower, and I LOVE the green color, probably one of my favorites so far, but I anticipated more detail on the necklace, and I'm just lost... any feedback or advice is greatly appreciated!

Components:

Toho seed beads, silver plated toggle, from LB. Pearls.

It’s wonderful! Springy and cute, especially the little green leaf sticking out from underneath the flower! I admire anyone who can do this sort of beading, I haven’t a clue how to do it, so no advice from me!

This is great! My suggestion would be to do a small, contrasting color bead on the edges of the flower…to make it pop! Maybe something that gives a bit of sparkle…even a metallic bead would work.

P.S.—sticking my two cents in again LOL I would also add brighter color beads for the center of the flower(like a nice yellow)..that might be all the contrast that’s needed!

All I can say is -THOSE ARE BEADS!!!! Good Lord!!! I thought it was lace – LOL. Did you do that beading or did you buy it that way?

Wow, it’s gorgeous! And I wouldn’t do a thing to the necklace – the green is just lovely as is!

You want to do something more to the necklace that Green is outstanding . I would not touch this piece at all it is really a statement piece. I too love the color Green. Great work.

I LOVE your intricate design!! I love the center colors too. They’re perfect for your floral creation.
I think yellow would make it too dis-jointed. Just my humble opinion. Creativeness does not require us to follow conventional rules.
It’s gorgeous the way it is…WOW!!!

thank you all for your wonderful comments.
I like your idea, Beadaholic. I think another one is going to be made in the near future, and I will use your idea to make a dual colored flower.
Syd, yes, all beads. made by me. the necklace itself was very simple, it was made using diagonal peyote. I also used diagonal peyote to make the leaf, and i used increasing herringbone to make the flower.
I have another flower, smaller than that one, that I’m making a brooch with for my mom. I’ve already given her 4 mothers day gifts, but I’m slightly addicted to making jewelry as gifts for people. :)
again, thank you all for your advice and kind words. I think its just me being obsessive. I had an idea in my head that didn’t work out, and I think thats why I thought it was too bland. The more I ogle it and wear it, the more I like it.

I can relate to that about making jewelry as gifts… my mother has complained a bit lately… If it wears well, that’s the most important thing. Otherwise, I feel as clueless as Gail, but just thinking visually (not much grasp of the techniques involved :-) ), maybe you could add a slightly darker shade of green to the strand part, to give more depth? (And then maybe not… wearing it and watching it are two different things…)

If you’re going to do another one, why not add a couple more leaves? (Can you tell I really liked the tiny leaf on this one? Lol!)

Now… I may be off-base here but could you weave in a dotted line (so to speak) of small pearls down the green– kind of like dashed/dotted ribbon? Perhaps you just need a little offset on the green to make it come together like you’d like. It would add a little depth to the green as well. I do like this though and am amazed by your endless beading talent! Beautiful!

Fabulous piece of work! I really admire anyone who can work with seed beads. I probably wouldn’t be able to see the holes and to get the beads organized? Way my skill level.

Suggestion: IMHO Some variation in the colors, a bit of darker green and a bit lighter color in the flower… A little more contrast to really liven thing up. :D

So here’s what I’ve decided… I’m going to leave this one as is. I’m going to make a handful of other flowers using all the different ideas suggested here (since I like all of them), and the one I like most will be turned into a new necklace.
As for the necklace on the new one, I think I’m going to use two shades of green. Also, I’m going to include a few more leaves in different sizes for the flower.
Thank you all for your kind words and advice :-)
