Is This Too Weird?

About this design:

I was playing around with some old wire pieces that never quite made the grade. This was part of a cuff bracelet that I chopped up, wrapped some of it in fine wire and manipulated the curves at the bottom. I think I like it but the design might be too avant-garde for most folks.

What do y'all think... is it a candidate for the closet?

Components:

12 and 24 gauge wire

NO!! it is great!! maybe, just maybe on another one just one bead on the un-wired side … ? make some like this and some with a bead … ? it’s a great design

I don’t care for the hook thing at the top, it looks unfinished to me. The rest of it I really like! It’s cool, has a lot of swirly motion and the wire work is great! I’d wear it! Syd’s suggestion is a neat idea too!

I love its simplicity yet it is also visually intriguing. A beautiful piece! For sale?

There are many people who love minimalist jewelry pieces. Just put it out there…you can always embellish it later if it doesn’t sell. I think it’s great.

The wire work thing at the top – think — BOHO, flower child, etc.

    Or – maybe I should put a lid on it …. ?

Thanks for the comments and compliments everyone. I’ll keep it out of the closet.

I just listed it on my web site. It is there with a bunch of other copper pieces. If you want to check it out go to: wickedwireworks.artfire.com

I think it could use a bit of color. As people already said, one or two beads would add to the overall effect. Alternatively, a focal inside the pendant might tie things together, too. At any rate, it’s pretty wirework.

Of course I am thinking, how did she bend that 12g wire? :) I love the collar, and the pendant. I would put some beads in there but that is my style. I am always inspired by your designs.

I hadn’t really thought about using beads. I’ll check it out and see how it looks.

Cindy, I use my good old “high tech” pliers to do the wire work. You know…the cheap-o 99cent store buy with the masking tape padded jaws. Looks funny. Works great! :D

I think this is a very unusual piece. I wouldn’t change a thing!

Really like it, a bit worried about the wire ends though — are they sharp, do they snag on clothes? I would have tried to close the gaps in the pendant, and filed the edges really carefully. I don’t know what sells, but I would wear it, definitely :-)
BTW, I saw some pliers with glued-on leather patches instead of tape at the class I took — seemed an interesting idea!
