Shades of Gray

About this design:

I've had this donut for *years* and never could find matching rounds to go with it. Most Crazy Lace Agate seems to lean toward brown, and this pendant is *far* from brown! I'd never seen the stone with just the grays until this came along. Last week, I found the gray-only rounds to go with it and bought a strand thinking it was 16" and I could do a lot with it...when it arrived it was only 8" so I had to get creative to made a design long enough to wear. All of the links are hand-made, as is the S-clasp. I used gunmetal and silver wire for the links (used up all my remaining silver; didn't have a lot left). Hand-wired the pendant as well (bail and wire around the stone are a single piece). Not at all what my original plan was, but I think it turned out all right. Gave it a test-wear today and it sits very nicely. Only one link needed a sharp end trimmed!

Components:

Crazy Lace Agate (gray variant), gunmetal wire, silver wire

I like it! Your wire-work is very nice! I’m glad I’m not the only one that has to make my design around what I happen to have.

This is really great…I used to have a donut that color also and mixed mine with gray quartz and lava stone. I haven’t found this color since! Great neckalce.

I love grey (gray?) jewlery, but do I have any? Nope. That necklace is so pretty

Oooo! I love grey too! And I love the links! Into faves I think (and maybe some copying if you don’t mind — feels just right :-) ).

@ pearlsandme: Not at all. What’s the phrase? Copying is the sincerest form of flattery? The actual jig pattern was one I’ve seen in books and online (a good step-by-step for it can be found on FusionBeads under their techniques, then under WigJig Techniques…mine weren’t turning out quite Celtic-feeling enough, so I used that for reference). As for the beaded links, those are just looped sections of wire. The pendant wiring started with the “bail” loops first, then the wire strung through the hole and wrapped where I liked it until it wouldn’t come loose. :) Have fun!

Beautiful piece and I think your wirework and the beads you’ve chosen complement the lovely donut well! :)
