Celtic Amethyst

About this design:

My first attempt at "wire weaving" yielded the pendant. It's not perfect, but I felt it had a quirky charm to it, and a bit of a Celtic feel, hence the name. I made purple coiled links from 26 gauge Purple colored copper wire, and used vintage solid copper rollo chain, finishing with a handmade clasp which I added some purple wraps to in order to keep the color going. All the beads are amethyst, the lighter one is just a lower grade, but I wanted a contrasting, more rustic look, since the smaller drops I used have a little of the white marbling as well.

Components:

Solid Copper Wire: 18, 26 gauge; Colored Copper Wire: 26 Gauge; Amethyst Beads and Drops; Solid Copper Bali Style bead caps; Vintage Solid Copper Rollo Chain; Solid Copper JumpRings; TierraCast links; Copper Flower link

That’s really cute, and yes quirky charm! I like the close-up images that show the different design elements. It works together nicely. So how did you do that front section? I’ve seen Viking knit done on a dowel, but nothing like this that is flat. Do tell! :)

Thank you all so much! It makes my day to get such positive feedback. =^___^=

Beadlady3 aka Cindy- I looped it by hand. Basically, I made the frame from 18 gauge wire, then looped the 26 gauge wire onto the frame, then continued by looping onto the curved spaces created between the upper level of loops. It’s hard to describe, but I hope that makes sense…
