Painted Violets

About this design:

I've loved lacquerwork since I saw Russian fairytale boxes when I was a child. All I know of the artist who painted this piece is initials--B.L. signed on the back. So thanks, B.L.,for the pretty violets.

Components:

Painted lacquer pendant, seed beads, black metal bail and clasp

Very pretty indeed. I love violets. This is a priceless work that should be on display and not sold. How lovely.

This is so lovely! I have a collection of wooden Russian artist dolls, as well as the lacquer boxes, so this is right up my alley. I have also painted my own wooden dolls and plates in this sytle. Beautiful design and beadwork!

Fabulous design, Laud – - you pulled exactly the right colors out of the pendant to make a stunning necklace. The pendant itself is such a beauty – - -

Laud, I’m in love with your design in this one! I love the ‘purple stations’ placed throughout the green ‘vine’. What a wonderful stitch you used. May I ask what it is called? You have quite an eye for balance and beauty in all your pieces. Great job! :)

It’s a chain stitch from BEADED ALLURE by Kelly Wiess. *smiles* First book I bought on beading, and I was hooked.

Wow, Laud! This piece is a stunner also! Your work should be in a gallery or museum gift shop! It certainly rivals what I see in the Smithsonian catalog!

Thanks Laud–I will definitely look into this! :)

I think Gail Layne is right. Your work is so professional and polished, without looking commercialized. Those 2 colors are so fresh and clean. I’m
a fool for that shade of “iris/Indigo” or whatever it is.

Nancy, the color’s called periwinkle, and LB has the beads. The clear greenish bead is citrus spritz, also LB.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Have a lovely holiday!

It just screams *SPRING*. Such a great color combination. Perfect execution Laud. I just bought a really cute top that color that has little elbow patches of the periwinkle.
