Into Mermaid Waters

About this design:

I just got these gorgeous Czech glass beads from LB and had to make an ocean themed piece! I know this knotted design is nothing new, as I posted a couple last summer, but I added a twist with one of my knotted leather links using one of LB's awesome large hole pearls that happens match perfectly with the Czech glass.

Components:

Czech beach glass picasso rondelles, Teal large hole pearl, Rustic Charms sterling silver link, TerraCast starfish, GreenGirl mermaid button, natural gray leather and gray C-lon cord all from LB.

That’s an attractive and neat technique for using beads with a small hole in a leather and button bracelet. I like the knotted C-lon cord with the rondelles – great choices.

If there are mermaids…they would be wearing this :) I love the way you did the pearl and clasp. That pearl is perfect for the rondelles! Gorgeous, Angela!

This is sooooo pretty!! Love the juxtapose of organic versus glitzy. Your leather knot pulls it all together :) literally and figuratively :) I looked up the tutorial on how to make one but yours looks different (round cord, wrapped with cord not wire) . Do you mind sharing your technique? Anyway, love your latest creation. It is a fantastic reminder of the cool, watery underworld on these hot summer days.

Beautiful, Angela! The color is so refreshing and cool looking! I noticed your button hole doesn’t look limp, how come?? It looks really cool! I also second the leather link question! I’ve also tried to do something similar and couldn’t find anything on the all knowing google! :-)

Thank you all so very much! Gail and Eve, the kind of knot I used is an adjustable sliding/slip knot that I left a loop on the end before tightening it up so I can use it as a link. I make the knot really tight and then glue it up inside with hypo cement because I don’t want it to slide. There are several youtube video tutorials out there. Here’s a link to one I found https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ea0uMEPnZe4
    Hope this helps! :)
