Pastel imprints

About this design:

Last year I saw Rebekah Payne tutorial how to make your own molds from flower imprints, since then I wanted to make my own, finally even in my Northern garden flowers are blooming. I have been collecting them and preserving and making molds, but then I saw a lot of other imprints on Etsy, all of them colored with acrylic paint or alcohol inks. I wanted my to be different so after some experimenting I choose the pastels to color them. It gives them sort of a misty effect as from a very early morning meadow, than I antiqued them with acrylics and sealed with matte sealer.

Components:

Polymer clay, pastels, matte sealer

Those are really amazing! I’ve used flowers and plant parts too, to make impressions in clay, and for staining fabrics ages ago, so I can see that you are very skilled! The colors take the flowers to a completely new level — I can’t decide on a fave either, first I loved the grass, then the rosebud… ooh!!

They’re all so lovely. I did see one I’d love to have 2 of to make earrings. But right now I have enough beads go keep me busy until 2040. I’ll be 101 by then so I hope my granddaughter will have an interest in beads.

Really beautiful! I love the work you do. And so totally cool to use your own flowers to make the molds. I particularly like the one with the purple flowers and the one that looks a little like wheat.

Can I ask what product you use to make your own molds? I’ve seen several and don’t know if they’re all equally good?
