Our Home Show Display

About this design:

My friend Barbara hosted our home show. We had jewelry tables for a total of 5 different beaders, and an area for our friend Judy who does her own stationary and cards from original art work done by herself and her husband.

Components:

The first 2 pictures are of beading jewelry displays, and I am also including the pics of Judy's area. Judy took these pictures, which is why they turned out well. :D

Both my beading friend Judy, and my sister had some items in my display area. My sister’s creations are mostly the ones in the pretty gold basket at the right end of my table. Judy’s work is on the blue table cloth. We had “Judy 1″ (artwork and aloe products) and “Judy 2″ (bead work).
We had a lot of fun, but less traffic than we had hoped.

hi harriet nice to see your display. i like how you involved more than one beader during your home show. i am considering having one myself and am really anxious about it. all of your displays are attractive and customer friendly. i like the artwork also. much talent was displayed at your show!!!

Our show was “by invitation” and not in the paper, etc. We hoped that by involving several artists we would have a wider appeal, and a wider circle of invited customers.

I really think we had too many local activities going on this weekend, and a lot of people are simply staying home to (hopefully) avoid exposure to the flu. :-(

We will probably try next time in a craft fair… still thinking about that. Our friend has a lovely home, and it was a very pleasant setting. We did a lot of shopping with each other, too. LOL :D

That is a fabulous display. I like how you have some necklaces on stands at eyel level. That always catches my attention when I go to a show.

Looks like you had a really large amount of inventory, would you sayit was it enough/too much/just right? Wonderful mix of all kinds of jewelry for all tastes/color choices/lengths etc. I think the set up was fantastic!

Thank you Cookie and Sali Jo. :D

Cookie, I think it was a good balance. The emphasis at my tables was on designs featuring natural stones. Another lady, Beverly, works with mainly glass beads, and does many designs with seed beads. Barbara does a lot of designs with glass and likes to use metal charms. We had 3 different styles for our guests to enjoy. :-)

Lynn, we planned ahead and set up the night before. Our hostess was so sweet to let us take over that much space for the show. :D
The biggest head ache was pricing so many pieces. LOL

Harriet, wonderful job displaying. It sounds as though you and your friends had everything worked out in advance so the show went smoothly!

Thanks Gigi and Bubbly. It really did go very well. This is not an endeavor I would want to just throw together. I learned a lot from two of the other ladies who have done shows before. :D

I’ve just become a fan of Lima Beads, and I think your concept for the showing is grand. I Hope the buying power is generated at your next gathering, be it at a craft fair or home party.

Here’s another, collaborative way to get your work out there: Next week, I’m teaming up to do a trunk show with a local CABI fashion representative. I like the idea of having the opportunity to help women “complete” their ensembles. One advantage is that the clothing line reps have large, established client lists (something I really don’t have!) And to tell you the truth, I like the idea of being the only jewelry artist at the event. :) If it works out, I’m going to try to find some other clothing lines to work with. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Thank you, Cherie, Adra and Lynn. :D
I have decided, based on these photos, that next time I will have a cloth that covers the table legs. It really is a cleaner look, altho’ not a big deal to people walking in and seeing the jewelry from above. ;)

  24. Happy Chick aka Harriet
    Happy Chick aka Harriet says:

Doktordesigns, I think that sounds like a great idea and a really good way to showcase your jewelry with some current fashions! Do keep us updated how that works for you! :D

I don’t know if we will do more this fall. Still thinking that over. We visited another craft fair/jewelry show this weekend, and it did not look like they were making lots of jewelry sales. There were many booths, and things seemed a little slow at most of them.
We may need to wait a little while. :?

I just came upon your Home Show Display and am very impressed with all the beautiful work. In September I displayed my jewelry at two different events. We had an assigned area in a building at the fairgrounds. Not a good venue. The buildings were bare and even a nicely presented display looked drab. I made some sales, enough to cover the cost of the space. A home show is the best venue to display jewelry. It was helpful to see the pictures you sent.

  30. Happy Chick aka Harriet
    Happy Chick aka Harriet says:

Thank you Nina. I’m sorry you had a disappointing time ate the fairgrounds. The drawback to home shows is fewer people coming by to buy!

Wow Harriet that it is a very impressive display! I’ve been hesitant to do craft fairs but I love the idea of inviting people to your home. Lovely!

  32. Happy Chick aka Harriet
    Happy Chick aka Harriet says:

Diana, we did confine our guest list to friends, and friends of friends. Since it was at a beader’s home, she was not comfortable just throwing it open to the general public. I do think that a jewelry party, with a gift going to your hostess might be a viable idea. :D

    Faithful Chick aka Faith says:

I can certainly not want to throw your doors open to the public in this day and age but this is a lovely display grouping and I can see how it would surely be a lot of fun.
